pjavon
Theres a new cycle track/Bmx track built next to our works and our boss has just come down stairs to inform us that he's been told the electric to our factory will be cut off for a day so we will have to have a day off without pay. It's a steel fabrication firm so without power were not much use and he's been told legally Scottish Power only have to give 24 hours notice and theres nothing he can do about it. Anyone come across this before, I assume this is probably 'legal' now-a-days as the working man is always at the blunt end but to say everyone in our place is bouncing is an understatement as theres been no pay rises for 4 years, the over time etc has all been stopped in an attempt to keep us going but losing more money isn't going down to well. Our boss, to be fair, has said we can use a days holiday but it just seems wrong that we should be forced into it by some firm that I would imagine makes billions a year. They have stated it's not cost worthy for them to connect it at the weekend!!!!
mistertwo
Sadly, your employer can do that. Understand how frustrating it must be though.
