Gazboy
Anyone here driven both? How did you think they compared? Cheers Gaz
tbourner
Friend said he's driven both back to back recently, unsure of tuning of each probably both standard though. He said the M3 seemed to handle better, and was definitely quick, the Supe felt faster especially on the motorway - but he's now decided to buy a ZT V6 so I dunno how relevant his opinion is! Suprasteve
Anyone here driven both? How did you think they compared? Cheers Gaz my best mate had an M3 Evo (6sp) which was in perfect running condition and standard apart from a K&N panel filter. I never drove it personally but was often the passenger, on acceleration they feel quick, really quick! On paper both cars are near enough identical in bhp and performance stats 0-60, 1/4 miles etc but the drive feels totally different. The M3 motor sport engine seems to rev forever and power is consent from low revs onwards, the power is there immediately after a gear change. Where as the sup obviously has turbo lag but then we get that huge torque increase when no.2 turbo comes on line . In the wet they are just as tail happy as the sup if not worse but felt no real difference in handling in the dry either. I do think the sup has the edge over the beema from 100 mph onwards. he did santa pods a few times and his best time was 14.1 @ 102 mph to give you some idea. J4CK50N
Have driven both and regardless of what anyone says both cars are good to drive. They both handle well and both have good power as standard. Think it depends what you want from the car. Both are reliable, despite various scare stories but Supra is a lot easier to gain power from. IMO the interior of the M3 superior but the Supra dash layout is much more involving. M3 Evo is starting to look a bit dated now whereas (once again IMO) the Supra still looks pretty fresh and has aged much better. The only downside with the M3 is that BMW's do seem to have that stigma attached, but this would not deter me!!! And I have driven both regularly. Hope this helps
ivan
How did you think they compared? They're both excellent cars BUT:- Wherever you drive a Supra, people will look and say "Wow!" Wherever you drive a {insert any beemer here} people will: a) not notice it, or b) notice it and think "there goes yet another flippin BMW driver". That's all that matters in the end... Homer
*everything he said* Here, here. I had an e36 M3 (non-evo) for a while. in stock for (like for like) the handling feels more precise but the grip is not so good! For all out power the Supra will beat it on almost any road, If you're properly decatted and have a reasonable suspension setup then the Supra wins in every aspect, no question: totally different league
