jon_dragon
My air-con compressor isnt coming on. I've recently topped up the system but its not doing anything. When I hit the air-con button all the controls seem to work properly but just no compressor! My boss seems to think theres a pressure sensor somewhere but we cant find it on the toyota parts looks up system. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it? Thorin
Hold down the two large heater control buttons then turn the ignition on, that should give an indication of what's wrong.
L18msy
Did you put the correct amount of refrigerent into the system? If there isn't enough in it it won't work.
jon_dragon
Bloody 'ell Thorin, thats ace! Do you mean the fan and temperature switches? I didnt realise they could be pressed. @L18msy, yeah its fullt topped up to the correct level, I had an air-con top-up tool at my old job but Ive got a new job at Toyota now and Ive not found their machine yet... if they even have one! pjavon
Thats great, I've just done mine and the fresh air is flashing so thats the pressure switch circuit but the bottom right (windscreen clear button) is flashing as well so which one on the list is that? Also anyone got any ideas how to fix them, if it's a pressure switch is it just a case of swapping a switch/relay somewhere or more in-depth than that. jon_dragon
Sorry I just realised which buttons you meant. I was visualising it but you meant the recirculation button and the other one next to it did'nt you, lol. Incidently, just been for a drive out and and put the a/c on and it was actually cold! Took a peek under the bonnet and the compressor was happily spinning away
Thorin
I think the pressure switch sensor one flashes if it's just empty, so might just need topping up. This really should be in the FAQ tech area but I couldn't see it there.
stevie_b
Have you checked for leaks (or asked the aircon top-up place to check) using the UV dye they use?
