General Banter
I've got a fabricage in my BDC car and I have to say it's excellent. I fitted mine pretty much by myself but most people pay around the 1k Mark to buy it and have it professionally installed.

AlexM
I don't suppose you have an email address for him? I'm terrible at getting around to phoning people.
Chris Wilson
ANY bolt in cage MUST have welded in spreader plates forming a "corner" between floor pan and inner sill where the main loop and front legs bolt to the floor or they will just punch through in a big roll. Bolted or welded spreader plates at all other cage to shell fastening points are either vital or a very good idea, dependent on configuration. Do they offer an FIA or MAS approval sticker with these? Gaz6002
If I were fitting a cage there's no way I'd look at bolt-in ones. Why compromise?
Chris Wilson
Cost? Loads of stripping, virtually to a bare shell? Loads of remedial paintwork afterwards? I totally agree that a welded in multi point cage is best, but they are very costly and the work before and after installation is intense. neilthenut
Maybe post some pics of yours with rough costs mine is weld in parts only. made before this currant batch. pictures are on my project car thread. see my sig I've got a fabricage in my BDC car and I have to say it's excellent. I fitted mine pretty much by myself but most people pay around the 1k Mark to buy it and have it professionally installed. lot good work i've seen from them, what your car? i'll be getting to as many rounds as pos this yeah to spectake, and ODC to drive! time atteck spec, dont they have to be weld in for this /or not. all in the rules which are downloadalbe from both website. the cages you can get away with are shocking, basic 6 point with drivers door bar (single) i have a copy of both, and my cage will/has surpass them all.. . i'm also using the MSA blue book. I don't suppose you have an email address for him? I'm terrible at getting around to phoning people. no. soz alex, try on driftworks, as there on there- If I were fitting a cage there's no way I'd look at bolt-in ones. Why compromise? i'd be happy with a bolt i dependin on application- as long as they have straight front legs, no swan necks, - but i see you point and well- i've gone full wack with mine! sideexitsupra
As far as time attack spec goes there is no requirement for a cage at the entry level club class. Have only ever seen full FIA approved jobs in the Club Pro and Pro classes. Interested in one of these myself. Thanks for the "heads up". Suprash
Yo man, I recognise that car Im also using a Fabricage cage, welded in, but I would have been happy with a bolt in if it was available then but they werent. They wont come a FIA/MSA sticker but they follow the same regs. Spreader plates must be used on all the legs though for as Chris said to stop it punching out the bottom of the car.
