mrmyagiii
Hey i`m having a small problem (i hope) with my `93 auto tt supra. Last saturday i drove to work when a porsche 911 turbo passed me. Sunny weather and a good mood resulted in a good sprint. When i arrived at work nothing strange to notice whatshoever. Afterwards i went to some friends and still nothing strange. After that i went back home and just before arriving at home i had to stop to open the gate to our backyard. When i stopped the rpm dropped to 500`ish and car started shaking, also my oil pressure did drop for a bit but then came back on. rpm hunting between 500-1000. Haven`t drove her since then. Tomorrow i`m bringing her to Mr T for diagnosis and hopefully easy repair. I know my car basics but i`m not a mechanic, what could i expect? I`ve checked airfilter and other basics like vac-hoses and such.
dangerous brain
Be the idle control valve. Mine did it, kept sticking shut so the car would cut out.
mrmyagiii
Oh i almost forgot, when it low on revs and i push the throttle a bit it even dips some more before rising in rpm. this all happens on idle in parked mode. I try`d to took of the icv but i couldn`t reach the lower screw easy enough.

mrmyagiii
so odd, brought it to toyota last day. When i started it, it was still having the idle issues with it hunting like mad and dipping alot when i pushed the throttle. But after a 5min drive of highway and arriving at toyota the problem was gone. They even fully checked her but couldn`t find anything. dangerous brain
Like I said the idle control valve sometimes sticks shut and doesn't motor to hold the correct idle rpm. Its an intermittent fault to start with which eventually fully breaks. Toyota should be able to diagnose that though.
mrmyagiii
How do you manage to remove the lower screw from the icv? I cant ever reach a screwdriver down there. Cleaning is never a bad thing i guess.
Swampy442
Its held on by 2 nuts, watch out for the water pipes, can be a bitch to get off/on
mrmyagiii
Yea i got off all the pipes that were on top of it. I was going to take top nut of but then i realised i couldn`t put enough force on the lower nut because i couldn`t reach so i left it for toyota to check it since i was going there anyways the afternoon. But they said everything looked fine.
Nic
Is it a UK/Euro Supra? Does it have a vent to atmosphere blow off valve fitted?
Ian C
Are you sure you're looking at the idle control valve? It's one of the easiest things to unbolt on the engine and doesn't really even have a "bottom" bolt as they are side by side. And the hoses are the difficult bit to take off, you can only really do it after unbolting it..?

mrmyagiii
its a jspec and has an hks ssqv bov. And if you follow the guide at the 2nd picture u see the "top" bolt. So the one remaining is quite on the bottom thats why i can`t reach it
