mark.supra
Just took my car for its annual Mot embarrased to say it has only done 350 miles since its last one. Anyway on the way home when i tried to change gear the clutch pedal stops on the floor and will not return unless i pull it back with my foot. I have checked and it is not catching on anything,it seems to do it about 1 in three times i change gear ANY IDEAS? 1995 n/a Supra 50k miles
bonus_2000
Possibly a hydrolic leak? Is the pedal not stiff at all, and goes down with ease, if so I would say there is a leak there possibly? Don't what anybody else thinks?
mark.supra
Cheers, pedal seems to go down with the normal resistance but then dose not come back up.
keron
could be the master cylinder...quite a common thing on the manuals now...you can get repair kits for them...(i stock genuine toyota) also the is a spring on the clutch pedal bracket, this also helps bring the pedal back up...tbh that would be hard to remove or fall out so i suspect the mc. heckler
This happened to me, turned out it was the master cylinder. I just replaced it, as I couldn't be bothered to do a refurb on it.
dani_r
That is the master cylinder mate. As Keron says, you can get the refurb kits, but I did that and ended up replacing the MC anyway because it failed again a year later. (I think due to the new harder seals in the old worn MC.) Approx £100 from Toyota.

nigelboyne
is it not the slave cylinder that operates the clutch system
mark.supra
Got it on classic insurance with sureterm direct cost £135 that plus road tax £205 it worked out about £1 a mile for the year. I must be mad but i walk to work and have owned her for 10 years and is part of the family so there she sits in my carpeted garage waiting to be taken out. Awisto
is it not the slave cylinder that operates the clutch system There's a clutch master and slave cylinder, it could be either.
Chris Wilson
Master cylinder bleed hole is clogged. Cheaop fix strip, clean out, blow out, clean again and rebuild. Better fix, fit a repair kit after a thorough clean and blow out. Best fix, renew it.
