Geezabloke
Fitted the 19m row Mocal cooler today and a filter relocation / thermostat kit, all BSP fittings. When pushing the car once fully warmed im getting a few drop of oil collect round one of the fittings. Is not much but its not right. I have had it suggested that i should smear some grease around the cone on the fitting to help it seal when tightened? Has anyone got another suggestion as i couldnt physically tighten the fitting any more without snapping something so i guess its not seated 100% true? Id like to be sure about the thing being correct as the fitting is behind all the new stuff ive just fitted (Feckin Typical) and will need a strip down to get at it. Prof. Monkey
Dont tighten to hard, and yes to the grease, it will cause a barrier, use a good quality grease that will have a high mpt. The fittings are usually brass and will shear quite easily if excess force is applied! Trust me it has happened to me! Hope this helps
RobSheffield
try a winding of PTFE tape on the threads of the bit that leaks....PTFE tape is available in any plumbers/hardware shop

SimonB
Which fitting is leaking? The unions that go into the filter takeoff need to be sealed with Dowty seals if they are BSP threads (they look like metal washers with a rubber inner bit), as there is no port for it to seal on. If they are NPT threads you need some PTFE tape on them.
