hoff
Morning guys I have had very few problems lately with the supra but like buses 2 come along at once. Firstly, last night on my way home from work when I was on the 2nd turbo at 5k rpm I felt quite a big judder from the car. Almost as if I was losing traction, but felt like it was from the engine bay. My tyre pressure was very low and after putting them right tried again and it didn’t happen. I am BPU and thought maybe it was fuel cut but I do have an FCD and it has not happened before. Any thoughts? I’m thinking it might be a bit more of a serious problem. I would have tried again but my second problem has put pay to that. My battery is dead! I have been using the car all week. I have had 2 occasions though when its needed 2 goes to start it. But it has been fine. I went out to it after it had been sitting for 2 hours and noticed the door was not shut properly, meaning the door light on the dash was on. The alarm worked fine when I opened it and my gauges fired up as normal. But it died as soon as I turned the key. There is no way the dash light drained the battery in 2 hours and it was a new one just last month. My thoughts are maybe the altinator is not charging the battery but I’m not clued up enough so need your thoughts. I don’t suppose the 2 are related, do you? Nic
If the judder is an engine misfire and it's only happening at high boost, it could be worn plugs or broken coil pack connector(s).
hoff
Ah yeh, cheers Nic. I'll have a look at that tonight or over the weekend. Any thoughts from anyone else regarding either problem? Ta.
johnny g
If the battery is buggered, could it be fuel pump leaning out under max flow due to not enough current? I'd replace the battery first, sounds like it's been cycled to hell!
hoff
The fuel filter is due a change too actually. The battery is brand new but if its been trickling out somehow the fuel pump is a good shout. The pump will still be fine though yeh? Cheers matey.
hoff
Well that was an easy fix:) I jumped the car and took it over to neil (neilthenut). First thing we did was check the battery and it was fully charged. Then we figured it in a second, the positve terminal was battered and barely making connection with the battery terminal. Basically there was enough to unlock the car but not enough to provide power from the battery to turn her over. On full boost we figured a similar reasoning. So new terminal on and its been fine since. Power is nice and smooth and not juddering:)
