p3te
Can rubber be painted and have a durable enough finish not to flake or peel? I was thinking about painting my handbrake gloss black or like a dark indigo to match my shift knob and fitting a set of leather gaiters. Can it be done? Or will it just end up flaking or wearing out and looking S**t. ill not attempt it if so.
Scott
I think there are ways to stain rubber, but it will come off through time. Much the same as a steering wheel wears I imagine. Best to leave it as it is.

baldy
you will need to use an adhesion promoter 1st,then when you prime the rubber you will need to add flexible additive to the primer itself.this will help reduce the chance of the paint cracking.you will need to add the flex additive any 2 pack colour or laquer you maybe using. the flexible additive can be added up to 50% of what you add it to but it will slow the drying process ALOT if you use that much, normally 10-20 % will be enough hth
p3te
Do you have any links to what id need? Sounds like all the paints could be quite expensive for the size of the part that needs painting
baldy
it will be costly if you need to buy everything to do a one off. i do know someone that can do this for you;) what are you looking to paint and what colour?
