dude
And that's part of the issue isn't it - respect. No one has any anymore so there are no boundaries for a lot of people. There was a time when people were genuinely scared of police - and respected people who were older than themselves. That's a society problem, I don't think anyone has an answer for that. Now that statement I agree with.
dude
Yes there is: National Service. And that one !!
supra joe
Yes fair enough if you detect a crime, then call the police But why should the general public do the police officers job for them! After all Don't we pay enough tax to the goverment etc to employ the police to do that very same job.!
marc_p
Strange that cause when I went to the States I saw 2 bodies both just been shot, one in Tampa one in Miramar, now I also know someone who worked in Texas and said thats pretty hot for shootings, still you pays your money you takes your choice, shot in Taxas or stabbed in Liverpool. The thing with the states is you have to look at each state as a different country, each have different laws etc, so Florida is different to Texas, I personally have never been to Florida so can't comment. Over all the time I have spent in Austin I have only ever heard of one shooting and even then, only 1 person died and that was the guy who went to shoot someone as he was shot by the cops. Where about's was your freind located in Texas? I obviously haven't travelled over all of it as it's about 3 times the size of the UK, but I know that there are some places near the border that you would want to avoid as there is the currently bad conflicts with Mexico but Texas as a whole, I find to be a great and freindly place, southern hospitality y'all. I just asked the chap I work with, who's lived here all his life, and he's got friends that have moved away, then have come back saying that it's a very nice to be. I wouldn't hesitate to park my car anywhere in the town, and I've only had positive comments from the types you'd think would get hassle from. Don't tar everywhere with the same brush, as you may be surprised. I only have one brush though, I can't afford two

Tricky-Ricky
Problem is Charlotte they are rubbish ! IMO this is 1) They achieve nothing when dealing with these little chavs due to the courts not backing them up. (which must be soul destroying) 2) They have got far to PC, when I was a teenager if you abused a copper you would have got a slap from him and then your dad when you got home, now you have the PC brigade like Mr soon to be a policeman. 3) Take a look at andy of the cop programmes on TV, their behaviour, its terrible, if its not some fat lesbian trying to act the hard nut its a skinny little tatoo'd chav who wass bullied at school, they no longer seem to know how to treat anyone with respect, only the other night on one programme a young not very well spoken copper had pulled a woman over and was addressing her as 'mate' WTF is that about and these are the episodes we are allowed to see. The police force is currently nothing more than a corrupt joke unless they are investigating serious crime which IMO is whole diff section of the force and one which will deserve respect although still corrupt and do not stick to the rules (which is fine as neither do criminals but don't think itd all midsummer murders) A little story for you, many years ago now a city type guy moved in with a girl just up from ours, really nice guy big, intelligent , well spoken........................until he had a drink, police were called (2 of them), he went berserk and chinned a copper, the young apprentice copper ran away and matey proceeded to kick 7 bells out of chinned PC, I ended up stopping him as he WAS killing the cop, we ended up fighting (well I was just trying to restrain matey till he calmed down but had to give him a couple of punches) I let him go and he ran off, I had the normal black eye. fat lip and tried to help the copper, both his lungs were punctured and he had a couple of minor broken bones. Matey got caught by a police dog and badly bitten and the cop recovered after a long time. The police were very grateful, my daughters stolen bike was replaced by a police society FOC and I didn't have any problem with untaxxed cars for a very long time!!!! Now fast forward about 4 years, a little scumbag moves in next door and starts trying to terrorise the neighbourhood, he was spoken to myself a few times and stayed well away from my family so all was well. A year or so later the 12 year old girl goes flying past my front door wailing like a banshee followed by scumbag carrying what appeared to be a stick, I open the door to see her little brother panicing, he said John you can't do anything he's got a spear and his knife!!!! and he going to kill Stacey, righto game on, select suitable weapon, Wakisashi is about righ as a Katana seems a bit over the top and set off to find scumbag trying to kick in some old guys door who has let Stacey in his house, an incident occured that was described as a scene from Highlander !!!! He had an Asigai (african stabbing spear used by Masai warriors to kill Lions) which he definately wanted to stick in me, ended up with him losing his spear and knife and being hit with the back(blunt) edge of the sword a few times, put the sword down and he come flying at me like a lunatic and him being put quite gentley to sleep (I didnt even drop him, put him down) now he does have a few scuffs at this time. When he wakes up he screams that he's going to call someone to come down and kill me and rape my Mrs and daughter, now a little switch flicks and I quite calmley inform him he will never get to a phone, a little chase ensues and we end up with him in a position that looks strangely like his neck may break, the next door neighbour remarked 'this is good' to which the Mrs just says'he's going to kill him' (which to be fair was my first thought) by now there are abot 20-30 witness' all screaming go on do it............ Sanity returns and I just drop him. Armed response turn up and arrest him, ive decided to stay elsewhere for the night and all weapons have dissapeared (neighbour took em, got mine back a month or so later) Scumbag is taken to hospital where he remained for quite some time. Turns out he was interfeering with the 12 year old and had been for some time and she said she was going to tell her mum !!!!!!!! Then the fun starts, CID coming up all the time to 'ask me some questions, then arrest me' (nopt one person would give a statement naming me only what scumbag did and a 'man in black') I was working in Spain at the time so just left and went over there till it all died down. Apparently the copper who got rescued got to hear about this and came to the house to say everything had been shelved. My point is help a copper who really should be able to take care of himself and get a reward, help a young girl in trouble and dispose of human refuse and the same force want to arrest me and can you just imagine the charge !!!!!!! One way street and the public are getting fed up with it. Sounds like he is one of those types that should disappear during the night never to be seen again;) I agree completely with what your saying, it seems to me that things/people have changed so much for the worse, but the police force and the court services have also become so much less efficient and more PC, so there is no longer any kind of balance, the police and courts have no power anymore, and the scum element, which also seem to be on the rise, know it! IMO its soul destroying for both the public and the police force, the public now feel that nothing constructive is done, so the police get a no confidence vote, and the police feel they have no power to change anything, so its no surprise that they loose interest. The world/country turns to shit around us, and because the government have taken any control or power we had away, we just watch it happen and moan. supra joe
Fair play dude!.. A similar situation happend to a mate of mine just 2 weeks ago, we both were working the doors on a match day, when a couple of stag parties kicked off inside the bar, scots and scouse. Anyway it went up big time and by the time they had been destroyed they ended up outside fighting with the police, wich we always help, even though they usualy mace us too by mistake lol. A female officer was being chocked out by a big scottish guy when the lad I was working with him hit him and knocked him out, he hit his head and paramedics etc were there as it was absolute carnage. Anyway he saved the officer but was told that the guy was gone! By paramedics as he wouldn't wake. He was arrested and locked up the officers started to play mind games etc, bringing him bibles and telling him to pray!!! Fortunatley for him the guy woke and was arrested, he was then told by the chief inspector, thanks son, for stepping in and helping my officers, I wish their was more like you. if you ever get in any bother come see me! Wich is good, but imagine if he didn't wake up, he would of been jailed for helping out! Where do we draw the line?
TubbyTwo
Im waiting for my local force to start recuriting Specials again and im going to sign up, no hesitation. Used to be a Special PC 4 years ago until a car accident took me out of action, and its the one area that i can honstly say I miss. Yes its not most peoples idea of a good time, giving up my weekends or evenings to put up with abuse etc but if it means that in some small way i can try and help then thats good enough. The police is the one major public service thats hated the most and slagged off, yet people still expect them to perform their duties without question, even when facing the negative attitude from the public. Compounded with the lack of support from the courts and governments thats got to be soul destroying. To go back and do that job at all hours of the day and night and to deal with things that no one should ever have to see, in my books deserves respect. From speaking to friends in the police their morale is at rock bottom, can you really blame them at times for not having the best attitude? Not taking sides with anyone, thats just how i see it, being a special PC was a great eye opening experience and one i would certainly do again without hesitation. Ian C
Here's the news article I was on about: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12888206 I fail to see how arming busybodies with speed guns in 20mph zones will stop chavs attacking and killing people. I'm a firm believer in being allowed to kill off scum like Dude described, for the good of everyone decent. That sort will never be a positive force in the world. I'm also sadly unconfident in the police these days. I've also been on the receiving end of the can't-get-me-off-the-phone-fast-enough call after I video'd someone going through red lights and almost wiping out another car. It really is a factor of dumbing down and politically-correcting plod by successive governments (it's not just the Tories, Labour is just as crap, only they cost more ). Scum know they can get away with anything, whereas people like you and I are terrified of driving past a scamera in case it goes off by accident - you know you'll still have the full force of the law descend upon you for that precious sixty quid. Chris Wilson
I have twice assisted uniformed police in arresting people. Both times turned out to be a nightmare for me, and this was years ago before political correctness became prevalent. I shudder to think what mayhem I would bring onto myself should I choose to do similarly nowadays. In fact I doubt very much if I would get involved. The finish to the tale is that not long ago scumbag went and knocked the door (as he has a kid with the woman) and Christopher, the young lad scumbag used to beat up all the time opened the door and laid him straight out !!!! apparently he was laying outside the door for a few minutes. He was beating Christopher so badly one night I could hear it over the TV, I had to kick the door in and ended up spinning this idiot face first on the Artexed stair wall from top to bottom like a catherine wheel and then jumping on his leg from about 6 stairs up ripping the cruciate ligament off his knee (which I understand is quite painful!!!) He also got a local doorman/hardman to knock my door to beat me up, now Ive known this guy for years so he was a bit shocked to see me open the door, anyway he comes in and has a beer I explain about scumbag so this guy leaves and knocks scumbags door and knocks 8 bells out of him !!!!! Just gotta love karma. Rumour is scumbag is now dead, so I guess he really did pick on the wrong person.
