Guest madfish
Hi all, I'm on the lookout for my next car and the supra is back on the shortest. I've loved them for a long time but never really had the money to get one. I'm currently driving a Honda S2000 which is great but need something with more space but is still Japanese and performance orientated... I have about £6500 to spend so I'm guessing I'm looking at an early import with automatic box? I'd love a manual aerotop but I guess I'm way off for one of those... As you can see I've been lurking for a few years now Will keep scouring the for sale section on here as I like to buy my cars off club forums as they are generally better cared for... Wish me luck Thanks, Mark Edited March 29, 2011 by madfish (see edit history)
Nic
to the club Mark. A RHD manual aero was never available from the factory - they were all autos - there are a few around that have been converted, but would be difficult to find and would demand a premium. Start by having a read of the threads HERE. If you have any other questions then the search button is good way to find or if you can't find what you need just ask away. SupraDan24
Are you looking for a TT or NA? With a budget of £6500 you can get a very nice Auto TT, there's been some very nice examples recently going for not much over 5k. If your going the NA route, a 5 Speed manual would be easily affordable as they seem to go for pennies these days.
Attero
If you up for it, you could convert an aero TT to a 6spd. Would cost you around £3k. An aero TT would set you back your budget though. Welcome to the club.
Guest madfish
Cheers for the welcome guys It's gotta be a TT for me, ideally BPU I've never had an auto before but I understand the supra's auto boxes are decent (would prefer a manual but I really fancy an aerotop, now I've tasted open top motoring with the Honda ) Mark
Josh
Welcome. Many members regard the auto 'box as one of the best autos around. For £6,500 you'll get yourself a decent Supra and as you say, if it's from a club member it'll more than likely have been looked after well. Good luck with your search. Havard
Welcome..!! I would try an NA aerotop if I were you and save yourself some money. I went from an NA 5 speed to a VVti Tiptronic and to be honest, I am not that fussed about the auto even with the overide on the steering wheel. Give me a manual any day. H. Guest madfish
If I got an NA is be hankering after a TT. Possibly do a single turbo conversion on an NA manual aerotop? Best thing I think for me is to have a drive of an auto and see how I get on, then ill be in a better position to make a decision...
Nic
If I got an NA is be hankering after a TT. Possibly do a single turbo conversion on an NA manual aerotop? Not a good idea, that would cost many many more £1K to do properly and you'd only end up with similar power to a BPU TT.
safcdixon
Welcome! As said above the auto box is a very good box in a strieght line, but it can be slightly boring IMO, On the other hand I don't think I'd like to go back to a manual, hope that helped
Guest madfish
Cheers I think budget will decide ultimately. I'd rather have a clean auto than a tatty manual.
