stopping engine when starting

Hi all

not sure what this problem is but when starting the car sometimes seems to turn over alot then seem to struggle with the lastturn over practaly stop before starting :blink: ,

its not the battery or anything like that!

 

i have a aem fic fitted with 650cc injectors

would this be a map/ timing thing ?

I dont think its the starter it doesnt do it all the time

That doesn't necessarily follow. Starter motor problems can be intermittent because (AFAIK) whether the fault occurs depends on exactly what rotational position the starter motor stops at when it stops spinning. A few degrees further round can make the difference between starting and not starting, if the contacts are on their way out.

 

The symptoms don't sound like classic starter motor contacts to me, but I definitely wouldn't rule it out.

trust me i can smell petrol alrite with that fuel rail leaking:scare:

but i do think you have a point it could be where the piston fills up with petrol and then the petrol is making it harder to compress making engine strugle to turn

 

If the fuel rail is leaking then the fuel pump has to re pressurise the system before it will start, so its going to take longer to start.
