Pete
Reading Toyota's blurb, the n/a mkiv has a quite sophisticated induction system. 220bhp out of a 3lt ain't too bad, especially with the nice, fat torque curve it's got. Or how about the M3 CSL? 3.2L 360bhp... and it drives wonderfully throughout the rev range. (Papped my pants).

And maybe Valvetronic nowadays, too.
SkyJawa
Yeah, but also not forgetting that the actual torque produced by an engine isn't as important as the gearing that puts it to the wheels. Shed loads of torque and crap gearing is far worse than lower torque with the correct gearing...........
Guest chiefvinso
Surely a car manufacturer are going to get the right ratios for their car and its purspose? Talking of torque and bhp I was under the impression that torque was what pushes/pulls you (rear/front wheel drive) to get you going and once you are in the higher rpms bhp takes over. For example the s2000 and most honda's with high revving compared to a same weight car with same horse power but the same amount of torque going up a v steep hill - who would win?
