CanisLupus
Was looking around for in tank Fuel Pumps and have seen the usual pumps(Walbro or denso Stock EU Pump) and then i stumbled upon those two: Deatschwerks 300+ Aeromotive 340 Stealth Both seem a very good deal especially because both are proven to work with E85 which is important for me. Has anyone some experience with them? According to the flow rates would one be sufficient for approximately 600-700bhp on 100octane fuel or do i have to get two of them? Wez
I have seen single walbro setups handle 600hp, not seen a single Bosch 044 pushed beyond 650hp on a mkiv yet. I am not a fan of multi pump setups.
CanisLupus
So one Aeromotive in tank should be enough for around 650-700? Am i right assuming that Aeromotive stuff in general would be a good choice?
Chris Wilson
You won't see many European race cars running anything other than Bosch pumps. I tend to follow that norm, and with pumps, sensors and car electrics in general, buy Bosch if possible. Not sure if the Bosch pumps are happy with E85 as I have had no dealings with it. I am *FAIRLY* sure they are OK though as some race series now use percentage ethanol based fuels and I am pretty sure they still run 044 pumps. CanisLupus
So in your opinion it would still be the Bosch? In terms of flow or in terms of longievety?
Chris Wilson
Yes, if the pump is OK with ethanol, and the flow at whatever line pressure is suitable.

Wow, that's handy to know, thanks : thumbs: What base pressure and how much boost as the 044 is supposed to flow really well at higher pressures. Might find out this year....

Yes, if the pump is OK with ethanol, and the flow at whatever line pressure is suitable. Thanks you two. If the Bosch can handle E85 it will be the way for me! Would you run it with a second pump and Swirl pot(hope spelled it right) or is it ok to just drop it in tank for my power figure(600-700)? Just one pump in the tank unless you are thinking of doing any serious track use.
Chris Wilson
Just keep it simple and drop it in the tank, adding a swirl pot and all the plumbing will make costs spiral.
CanisLupus
Thanks! I think several laps over the Nordschleife don't require a Swirl Pot Setup. Yet Ok this one is odd... The 044 is compatible with E85 BUT: "With E26/E85 or Diesel fuel run-time max. 500 h. For technical reasons the values may vary. Please use within the specified limit values only." Source: Bosch Motorsport. I'm not really into changing the Fuel Pump every 500h working hours...
Chris Wilson
I wouldn't worry about changing the fuel pump every 500 hours, with 700 BHP you will be rebuilding the engine long before then if it's used at all hard

From my calculations i would have to change the pump every year if those 500hours are correct I'll have to give Bosch Motorsport a ring and see what they think the unofficial runtime will be...
