Rob_Mitchell
I have had a thought and its been on my mind all night, im going to be putting the single turbo engine im building in the orange supra i have. Now when its running how will it get through emissions? its going to fail the basic but on the specific there is no 2jzge listed in the book so does that mean it will be exempt? Jay_vr6
if its 2jzge listed on your v5 then you get to have the older non cat test unless i miss your point..

Rob_Mitchell
i think im losing the plot plus i have man flu. ill have to declare the vehicle has a 2jzgte engine in it, so the log book will change. am i right??
Bossco
Mine didnt change when I rang DVLA. There didnt seem bothered in the slightest. It was almost a fight to have them note that I had called to report the chnage. I cant remeber their exact words but it was something along the lines of, as it's a supra engine in another supra then we dont care.
Jurgen-Jm-Imports
your the tester (no need to worry)
garethr
For engine swaps, the test is done on the older of chassis or engine, so it will be (at least) the same as the GE.

wallis
It is a driving offence (3-5 points) to drive any vehicle with its non factory engine fitted, when you don't change the log book details, which also invalidates your insurance! Don't belive anything else rob! I've done loads of engine changes and even know a lad who got done for this exact offence a few years back, he got done for 5 points and 3 for no insurance and a massive fine for over a grand! 50% of the time with straight engine swaps I.e like for like it's just a case of informing dvla of the new details. However on a few engine changes I have done for example a vr6 in a mk1 golf gti, I had to take the car for an inspection with vosa, to have it checked over. Basically another mot, if it passes u can change the logbook details etc. Rob I'm thinking for emissions it would go on the year of the new engine? If Its a pre 93 import as u know emissions isn't a problem. I havnt had any cats fitted for over 4 years now and my car passes it's mot every year! black_widow87
If you were to change the logbook from N/A to TT would you see a stupidly high price for insurance (due to the modifications), or the same as a stock TT built by Mr T?

d-_-b
If you did an engine swap (na to tt) and left the TT engine totally stock, had the log book changed, when you came to insure the car (would you insure it as a NA with an engine conversion or as a TT)? black_widow87
If you were to convert an N/A to TT and also change it on the logbook, would there be any difference with regards to insurance when comparing to a factory built TT?
