HI Guys,

I'm new to this forum, just sold me S14 drift machine to start something a bit different. Going to supercharge my UZZ31 V8 soarer (1UZ FE) and stick a manual box in it.

My question is do you guys know which bits are transferable from the mk4 Supra into the UZZ31? I know the R154 box can be used with the Automatic bell housing from the 1UZ with the use of an adaptor plate, but do you know if the standard mk4 (or mk3?) bits such as:

  1. flyWheel
  2. Clutch plates
  3. Slave / Master cylinder
  4. Prop shaft
  5. Standard Gear Stick and its position on the box
  6. Clutch (and break) pedal assemblies
  7. Speed sensor unit

I would appreciate any input from any one with experience of fitting a manual box to an auto 1UZ, or anyone with a better feel for these cars than me :)

Thor racing do a conversion kit, you will need a r154 with remote shifter, or extend the shifter of the mk3 one. You will also need the pedals from a manual soarer (with a 1jz). You will need the front part of the prop from a tt manual soarer too.

u can use mk4 supra clutch pedal and clutch master cyl and hardline

W58 gearbox V161 gearbox and both props from the a mk4 supra too

and obv the slave cyl too if u use either of them boxes,

but basicly u need to spend 2 weeks researching what u are going to be happy with this swap wise there are few options, nothing seems to be great standard path to follow

I made my own adaptor and system in the end , so have most others who are currently running a UZ manual or at least a heavily modified part of an existing product

hers some more debate on the subject

This is a 'common' swap in Aus-land..... have a look on the Aussie Soarer sites (they are more adventureous than the UK owners in doing new tech stuff and spending money) like ALSC ( http://www.lexusaustralia.org/entry.htm ) and Soarer Central (http://soarercentral.com/cgi-bin/sc-forum/discus.cgi).

They also supercharge them far more than over here, saying that if you havent looked as Soarer World (a UK site) there is a lot of info on there about the Soarer and charging it.

Thanks for all the replies. I am convinced to go ahead with the conversion. I have been quoted £450 for a straight through stainless exhaust, and around £400 for a supercharger, I also already have the W58, so should be a fun project.

All I need now is T I M E !!!
