Well said that man.

Moan moan moan. You lot should just get on with living your own lives instead of peeping and bitching about your neighbours. So what is someone has a new kitchen. So what if someone else has a paved driveway. Just get your head down and live your life the way you want to. Bitterness, jealousy and keeping up with next door (employed or unemployed) is a waste of time and energy and should not make a blind bit of difference to how YOU want to live YOUR life.

Just seen these.

I guess its aimed at me. Im not trying to keep up with anyone. However when someone that does not work gets given something i had to work my ass for and though my tax money pay for i have ever right to be upset. Explain why the person i have told you about should even try to find work? And lose a brand new spanking house? She wont will she, she willl continue to live off the state and make a mockery of hard working decent people. All the time living rent free in her fully mantained house while collecting decent money for SKY, food, Interent, Mobles ect.

The whole system rewards people like this far to much.

Thats my point

All the arguments on this thread are, as I expected from the title, completely infallible. Well done. There's definitely no reason you shouldn't just quit your job and go on benefits; go for it. I notice you say you wouldn't do so without transferring the house and business to your family though.

One thing you seem to be missing; he's been "given" this house, you OWN yours. When your mortgage is cleared, if it's not already, you own a house that you've worked hard for and deserve. Likewise your business. What does this guy have? A council house that's worth nothing to him, and a shitty GTO that is worth less and less by the day. I for one am about to burst with jealousy, because he's got 100 channels of crap on Sky to while away his depressing life.

These threads are all the same; people ranting about how those on benefits have "won", and we've all "lost" because we work hard and earn the things we have in life. Lets not even touch on the warped opinion that drug dealers live fantastic lives (hint: it's not like the baddies in Bad Boys). I have a much better quality of life than any people I know on benefits, I don't have debt, I work in a job I enjoy, and as a result I can buy nice things whenever I like. I have many times the disposable income you can have on the benefits system. When I retire I'll own my house, have a great private pension, and money in the bank to enjoy the rest of my life too. And I'll have done it all by happily contributing my taxes to the upkeep of this country, and support of people on benefits, while still having spent plenty of my life's earnings travelling, eating at nice restaurants, drinking at nice bars, buying myself gadgets I don't need, and on and on.

You carry on whining and being bitter, and I'll outlive you by ten years by not getting my panties in a bunch over how other people live their lives.

Maybe, except I suspect a lot of people are like me whereby...

I have a much better quality of life than any people I know on benefits, I don't do have debt, I work in a job I enjoy, and as a result I can buy but I still can't buy nice things whenever I like. I have many times the less disposable income you can have on the benefits system once my mortgage, rates, tax, NI have all been deducted from my pay. When I retire I'll own hopefully have paid off my house mortgage, have a great private pension if the company hasn't gone bust, and money probably very little money in the bank to enjoy the rest of my life too. And I'll have done it all by happily contributing my taxes to the upkeep of this country, and support of people on benefits, while still having spent plenty the very little left of my life's earnings travelling, eating at nice restaurants take-a-ways once in a while, drinking at nice bars whatever Tesco has on offer, buying myself gadgets I don't need maybe even getting my Supra back on the road before I can no longer afford the petrol to run it, and on and on.

There, that is much more realistic and is probably why a lot of people feel resentful of those who cheat the system to get given stuff the rest of us have to work hard for. :)

I also like your post :)

It's just nice to have a bit of a broad perspective on the whole thing instead of a thread of multiple people complaining about someone with a free house and jaccuzi.

It's hard for any working family/people these days, there's no place on earth that it isn't. But to me, it's part of what drives me as a person - to try harder, to acheive, to provide for a family. There is no way on earth I would sit back and allow myself to be swallowed up by the ethos that 'there's no point working, I can get everything for free' - but then perhaps that a result of being taught to work hard for what I want. I simply don't believe that's the truth of it (I KNOW that there are extreme examples in both directions of the scale) I just don't think it's black and white like some people are saying.

Plus the fact that I don't need money to have a nice life. Obviously it's lovely to be able to not worry about everything and some people acheive that, but it's hard work.

The rules and regulation for the benefit system is too relaxed here. I also know people who is on benefit and living in council housing and I also know people who is are really ill and needed support and not getting enough. I pay taxes and my wife pay taxes and I am happy to do so (both of us are in 40% bracket), I benefited from it when I moved to UK and it is my time to pay back so other can benefit. We need to have more robust check on benefit application and redefine our poverty line. At this moment if you don't have sky tv means you are below poverty line I mean WTF? Have they not seen clips from comic relief? Human planet show how people work for their food in stupid environment etc.

There is not enough difference between minimum wages and benefit to motivate people to work. People say there are no opportunities or jobs available......true if you don't lower your expectations. Most of the low pay jobs are taken by "non English speaking individuals", people just don't bothered to lower themselves to take on those work, its just not worth doing or its a dead end job.

A great post until the above, Im not whining or bitter do read my post again. If the person im talking about was to get a job she will bring in around 12k a year. They will remove her from her 170k house, and remove her payouts. So what do you think she is going to do?

The system rewards the lazy that is wrong by any ones standards.

etc

I've got my eyes set on 117 million on the euros tonight then I can Jack work in, then maybe I won't care about the freebies that get thrown too the scum of Brittania!

These two posts illustrate another side to it: in general, the wealthier you are, the less likely you are to be bothered by perceived benefit system injustice.
