Mystery Illness?

Right, apologies in advance for the long winded post. Just wanted to see if anyone has had anything similar to this?

Sunday last week I started to get a cold (after being hungover). Nothing strange here, felt crap and had a sniffly nose and sore throat.

Then on Friday night I started to feel strange. Very tired, even exhausted. I felt almost drunk to the point where I was feeling a little sick and found it hard to keep my head up. I'd feel okay in the mornings after a night's sleep for about half an hour, then it would start :( I've also been feeling sick whenever I've eaten anything.

I was still feeling like this yesterday so was straight on the phone to the docs and made an appointment for yesterday afternoon. Tested my strength in arms and legs, the nerve at the back of my eyes (can't remember the name) and blood pressure was found to be high and was immediately referred to A&E at the local hospital (wtf?!).

Made my way up there and after an hour and a half wait, had my blood pressure checked again and sent along to the Medical Assessment Unit. Was immediately hooked up to a heart monitor and my blood pressure checked yet again and bloods taken for analysis. A two and a half hour wait later and my bloods were okay, had an ECG done and urine test which all proved to be okay.

Left the hospital at 9pm last night being told I was okay and none the wiser as to what is actually wrong with me. My GP has just told me to rest up and that I've likely had some sort of viral infection.

Has anyone had anything like this before?

Sounds like a virus to me. Plenty of fluids (some signs of dehydration there) and rest. :)

Thanks Dr ;)

It's been really freaking me out and almost kinda depressing. It's not that nice drunk feeling, oh no...it has to be that 'I've had one too many and now I might fall over and vomit in the nearest cupboard' feeling.

You're getting old, dude.

Eat healthily, try and go to the gym once or twice a week, quit smoking, buy a juicer, and try and get some proper rest - try not to eat at least an hour before bedtime and why not read before sleeping instead of playing with your phone?

I have been feeling much the same for around a month now, but If it's any consolation, I haven't died yet.

It is and it isn't....I don't want to feel like this for a month!

Sound advice, Mike. My diet has suffered of late and I'm definitely getting less exercise than I should. I think I need a holiday for some proper rest!

ps

Old?!?! I'm not even 30 you cheeky so and so :D

You missed out the part about binge drinking. ;)

I had this about a week ago, woke up feeling like I had a massive hangover, wobbling all over the place being sick alot. Couldn't sleep at nights and kept going from hot to cold, plus had pain in my abs.

If you got anything like I had it was gone after 3 days.

I used the NHS symptom checker and it said I had meningitis lol

The WORST place you can be is on the internet trying to self diagnose. Those symptoms could be any number of millions of things ranging from not serious to really serious.

HTH. :)

Oh yes!

According to my wife, I have died 3 times already! :D

Drink plenty of fluids Ian & rest up fella.
