Dyer864
Well having had my dog Dave the bearded collie for over a year now, he his still nuts as ever but still very timid at loud noises , cars etc. Doesn't even like travelling in the car, the noise puts him off ! He's quite an obedient dog when he wants, but yesterday was the day i dreaded !! took him for his usual walk around the field where i live, nice walk but everybody uses it , bit of a walk trail if you know wot i mean, done his walk on my way back home , threw his ball and walked around the corner and for some reason no sign of him following me , (Usually runs in front) called him , nothing and heard an almighty bang ! in between the two fields is a busy road that has those large walk thro gates for walkers etc. they were closed, he'd jumped over the wall to go back where we came from , think he'd smelt a bitch in season or something as he was sniffing around for ages earlier on ! A car had it him up into the air and tossed him into the air like a rag doll , i knew he was dead, everybody did ! i ran grabbed him off the floor and a passerby in a 4x4 offered to take me to the vets , he was breathing but blood coming from his head, nose and eyes ! got him into the vets, they rushed to see him and said go home we'll call you in an hour ! dreading the hour hr gone , phone call . checked him all over no bones broken but large head cut, broken teeth and facial cuts so far, but we'll av to observate him for the nxt 24hrs incase of internal bleeding longest night ever, didn't sleep alot and feeling very guilty, and mrs and i upset Vets ring 8.30am this morn. dreading the news !! Hello mr Dyer, "you can come and pick Dave up, he's a bit worse for wear but he's ready to come home" (follow up appointment on monday for check up and teeth removal) Vet said he's a very lucky dog !! BEST NEWS I'VE HAD IN A VERY LONG TIME !! ABSOLUTELY EXTACTIC . We're calling him DAVE THE DEATH DEFYING DOG NOW . :D

pistonbroke
Great news mate..........Lol @ Dave the dog, brilliant Dogs are very very tough though, A burglary suspect was being chased by a police dog on my shift a few years ago in Lewisham. The burglar jumped over an iron fence with spikes on the top. The dog followed suit but got its hind leg impaled on the spike causing it to hang there. The dogs can obviously run considerably faster than people, so the handler was a good 15 seconds behind him. When he got there, he lifted the dog off the railings leaving a clean hole from one side of its leg to the other. As the handler lowered the dog to the floor, the dog shot off again in pursuit of the burglar and caught him, when I say caught him, I mean chewed through his left forearm almost to the bone. Dog survived the ordeal despite huge loss of blood and was back on duty a week later. Dogs are ace animals

Dyer864
Good to hear the dog's ok... Did you get any grief off the owner of the car who hit it? Believe it or not, the guy driving the car whom dave jumped out at, is a professional boxer ! i thought Oh F**k when i seen him get out of the car, he was white, and shaking ! but didn't have time to speak to him as i was rushing to get dave off the ground into a car ! Then when i returned to the vets later on , he said some guy had phoned the other vets asking if a dog had been brought in involved in an accident ,and passed the message on to us asking if the dog was ok , has he was deeply upset ! and left a forwarding number . I rang him and knew is name straight away, as he is pretty well known around our area and he couldn't have been more concerned about the welfare of Dave . (personally i thought he wanted compensation for the damage of his car, as it had a right nasty bang and i seen a few bits come off) but i couldn't have been more wrong, wot a really nice guy ! he said let me know after the 24hrs had gone to see if he made it, i texted nxt day to tell him the good news, and he said he was really upset at wot happened and was thinking of him ! TRUE GENT , CAN'T SPEAK HIGHLY ENOUGH OF HIM !
