Parry_10
1- after a start the car sometimes the low oil level light stays on then flashes then goes off, checked the oil level its on maximum.. 2- since i had my boost controller fitted and boost rasied to 1 bar and thje car dynoed it drives alot better but when its upto temperature it likes to idle at around 1300rpm- i sprayed brake cleaner on the hoses to try and find a vacuum leak but the revs didnt increase Any ideas? Thanks Chris
Parry_10
Im thinking iacv for problem 2 but bit of a coinsidence its only started to do it after the boost controller was fitted and boost increased so im not sure
Guest Andy Bird
vacuum leak would have caused low idle and rich running would it not? 1. could be oil pump got getting it up to pressure, but dont know for sure, could be faulty oil pressure switch? 2. idle control valve? Parry_10
I think theres an oil level switch maybe it could be that or oil pressure switch
Guest Andy Bird
i would get an aftermarket oil pressure gauge fitted to be sure its not something else mate. hopefully just a dodgy sensor
Chris Wilson
The oil level sensor is not terribly reliable, and best ignored. trust the dipstick, not electrickery You can remove the sensor with the engine in situ, I think, if you wanted to change it. You could also try removing the connector plug and seeing if it's damaged or corroded.
Parry_10
Ok cheers would it be a good idea to take off the icv and clean it up to see if that sorts the idle issue
Chris Wilson
Yes, try cleaning it in brake cleaner or petrol.
