dani_r
Who is doing these kits now? Is it a worthwhile purchase? *I mean Oil 'Filter' Relocation! Edited March 18, 2011 by dani_r (see edit history)
Wez
Something else to go wrong, what the problem with the stock location?
Chris Wilson
I totally agree, 95% of the relocation installs I see look FAR more likely to have issues than the the stock set up. If you want a supplemental oil cooler leave the filter on the block, remove the Modine unit and have the COOLER take off plat directly under the filter. I have borrowed these photos from a members build log. Instead of the "cap" on the take off just screw the oil filter directly on. I would use an adaptor with a thermostat in it, which I stock. I do the same on Skyline engines. You need a custom adaptor for the block take off hole.
dani_r
It's a bit of a nightmare getting to the filter and I'm worried about the sandwich plate adaptor for the oil pressure/temp senders leaking as they have done before! Without sounding totally stupid I did get a bit lost with what you meant there Chris! I'll just stick with the stock location for now. I will monitor my temps this year when BPU and consider a cooler.
David P
This works well for me with an oil cooler mounted behind n.s. vent. A Supra oil filter relocation block converted to accept a Fram PH4854, using a bespoke M20-1.5 to 3/4"-16 bush. This upgrade fits snugly just above the fuel filter, and is nice and easy to get at for a 'clean' oil change. Plus 1 litre oil capacity. Extra oil cooling. Easier access. Hex head - 27mm. Available from local Motorfactor. If it were painted purple, maybe everybody would want one Edited March 18, 2011 by David P (see edit history)
