The Raven
Mine is the same barn. As far as im aware you can drive to and from an MOT without tax or an MOT. You have to have insurance however. Police will check with the MOT place if the pull you.

Homer
Same situation I was in Brendan. After a couple of calls to the police advice line they they stated it was okay to drive to and from the MOT station without tax. However it must be a pre-booked test and if failed, you must have the failure sheet as proof. They said it was a must to bring all your documents with you just in case you do get pulled over. Also they said not to take the p*ss with the distance, it should be the one near to your home and you can only go direct to and from there. Homer
If the tax has run out it will always be SORNed (at least if you're obeying the law!). SORN doesn't matter, you can still drive it to and from the MOT station
barneybrendan
so i should be ok as long as i take the insurance log book and the tax form filled out ready.Am i right that if it passes you cant drive it back until its taxed though. Couple of links for you: http://www.ukpoliceonline.co.uk/index.php?/topic/17693-driving-without-mot-and-road-tax/ http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/HowToTaxYourVehicle/DG_069671 All agree with what I posted earlier

Homer
Don't think a letter is needed mate, I was only advised to make the booking, then keep the station phone number in case you get pulled over. They'll just call to confirm.
