-Welsh-Stealth-
hi i recently changed my fan belt, timing belt etc. and as you may know needed to remove the radiator for good access to the front of the engine.i managed to change everything fine and it all looked good until on the way home the coolant got dumped from the bottom hose into the enginebay ontop of the undertray and straight under the alt. anyway i solved the problem but the fan helped spread what coolant i couldn't get out.(was dark, wet and had been working on the car in the rain all day& wanted to just get home lol!)....anyway it happened again and it turned out the bottom hose had a repair that had given way again...so solved the problem.but again more coolant. anyway on to the main event, i then found my car had died after i had left it open all night...and the battery refused to charge after connecting it to the mains. i tried the jumpleads and it started and ran for a bit but the locks were going nuts, lights were flickering and it nearly cut out when i put the indicators on!lol!it did when the main beams went on!lol! but luckily i had friends following i got the car home and so went and bought a battery =) happy days then followed with no problems what so ever! until yesterday when i was driving my car to a model shoot and it suddenly threatened to die again!cd player cut of lost all power etc....i straight away knew what was happening so i killed uneeded electrics and hoped for the best.it again started to threaten dieing as soon as i indicated and the locks were going mental.again the interior lights flickered and the central warning triangle cameon and off a few time(not flickered). at some points driving back then the car would stutter as if it didn't have enough power to spark the plugs. to me it felt like the car was struggling to retain charge. but the battery is new and the alt connection seems fine.i washed the car the night before the shoot&got some water in the engine thanks to the aid of my holey bonnet. am i right in thinking the alt is knackered? sorry to ramble on a bit, but i figured if people knew the full story then it might help diagnose the problem kind regards Louie
