hodge
I've had a call from Luke at Sky Insurance today about insuring my Supra. Here's what they said. Basically Sky don't offer agreed valuations anymore but has offered to insure the car on a like for like policy for all the modifications, so if the unthinkable happens the valuation will be made on the car plus the parts fitted not just the market value. They have even agreed to cover my wheels for 4.5K, which was what was paid for them. The policy also included accidental damage. So the price they've offered me with a £400 access is £894 fully comp protected. I thought this was very reasonable, given the spec of the car and it being a bit of a 1 off. What do you guys think??? JS2004
Have you checked with some of the other insurers to see what they can offer in comparison? Insurance companies seem to be fighting quite fiercely for business at the moment. If they are doing a like for like why cant they do an agreed value? isnt it almost the same thing? Bailey.
That's quite reasonable IMHO. What are your details age, no claims, Where it is etc?? When I saw 4.5k without reading it I thought oh dear, lol
scotty71
I was quoted 480 on a BPU full mods decleared so I guess thats a good price you got
Scott
That sounds pretty reasonable to me. I would be happy with around that figure once my car is finished, with the same conditions. I would definitely still shop around though, never take the first offer
hodge
I will give a few others a ring to get a comparison. It does take a while to reel off the spec list though lol. I am very happy with that price though.

Ricky49
I think that's a good price. I'm paying a similar price with Sky and they wouldn't budge on the agreed price for anything for my single. Though they were a lot cheaper than all the other 15+ companies I tried.
hodge
It seems to be the common consensus that it's a good price. I'm going to insure it beginning of next month so I can get it over for an MOT n see about getting this bloody blowing exhaust sorted out. hodge
It's ristricted to 3000 miles. I'm 36 with full NCB and no claims n convictions.
Dnk
That sounds expensive to me then. LWIB covered my car for 5000 miles with agreed value of £13k, im 49 yrs, 7 yrs ncb, 9 points for £
Bossco
I dont think it's a bad price but I think you will find better without much work. Sky's initial price is always high. Dont forget mate, it was only a month ago they sent me a renewal for my citroen at £1200, as soon as I asked them not to be so stupid they agreed a price at less than 1/3 of their initial quote. Tricky-Ricky
It worth the ring around time, i actually got my insurance cheaper this year for the same car, and prices have gone up.
Dnk
Sky just quoted me £842 with £350 excess & protected NCB also no agreed value on UK cars now either !! Edited March 17, 2011 by Dnk (see edit history)
johnny g
I think it's pretty decent, John. The coverage on the wheels and accidental damage as well is something that's worth it's weight in titanium
Guigsy
I'd jump at that. Anything under 1k is cheep these days Unless your an old fart like dnk
Lude
my renewal is up, had £1120 with Sky, Adrian Flux 950! dont charge for mods (power increasing mods) im going for that one, the policy sounds nice, again think agreed value on mods
Dnk
Just had an agreed value quote off Livingstones Warmen, £13k agreed value payout if a total loss or stolen and not recovered, 3000 miles, protected ncb, malicous damage cover, 250 excess, all mods declared, no accidents in over 20 yrs but 9 points on liscence Parts arent covered like for like but for £285 i know where im going !! or should say staying as im already with them Not sure if the agreed value policy is only available on uk spec cars.
