The Raven
2jz-GE and 2jz-GTE are non interference. Probably wouldnt recommend putting it to the the test however. The way i saw it, my n/a lump has done 120k+ miles its cheaper to buy a 2nd hand low miles engine for £200 than pay to change the belt. If im honest the engine going boom would also be a good excuse to put a TT lump in.
Dnk
Could it not be potentially dangerous as you'll lose engine power and power steering the instant it breaks, not so good on a busy motorway or dual carrigeway
stevie_b
Also, I wouldn't be surprised if you need to replace other parts as well as the belt itself if it breaks whilst you're driving. It's a chunky piece of rubber under tension, buzzing around at 50+ times per second. Flick that at anything that isn't 100% solid and secure, and it might break it. I guess the cambelt cover would absorb most of the force so you might get away with it.

Josh
I dont do motorway miles, but none the less losing power stearing might prove an issue. I'd rather a £200 bill for a new cambelt than a fatal crash on my hands
