SupraDan24
I moved house this month and decided to up my BB from 10Meg to 30Meg, with this came Virgins new Media Hub, of which the guy who installed it was very confident and showered it with praise. From what ive seen so far though, its not all that great, when i turn on the wireless on my laptop, it connects straight away, but you have to wait about 15-30secs before you get internet access (i never had this with the old router and its the same laptop) and more annoyingly, as soon as i switch on uTorrent to download anything, even if its just going at sub 10kb/sec, it completely screws my internet, i constanly get "webpage cannot be displayed" messages, and browsing sites slows to a standstill. It doesnt seem to care if i'm downloading at 1kb/sec or 1meg/sec, the effect is the same. Soon as i exit uTorrent and re-launch Firefox, it runs fine. Anyone else come across this problem? I'm debating going back down to 10meg as it was so reliable. Dan
Scott
Yup, nothing to do with the media hub. It's something to do with virgin and utorrent. I only get it sometimes, and generally just disable/enable my network connection to get it sorted. It's Virgins way of trying to stop P2P downloading IMO. As for the other issue, I don't bother with any of the VM stuff, I just use my own kit
SupraDan24
Ive been using uTorrent for the last couple of years though Scott and ive never had a single problem with it affecting my connection until this week when the Hub was installed. I've tried it at least a dozen times this week, and the effect is immediate and happens every single time. Too many coincidences for it to not have anything to do with the Hub. Edit: I'm not conviced im receiving 30meg as they promised either, as everytime i do the speedtest, it comes up with almost exactly 20meg virtually everytime, never above. I'm paying 20meg price but they're supposed to up it to 30meg free of charge as per they're offer.
SupraDan24
http://www.speedtest.net/result/1200252920.png I know its not 100% accurate, but i get pretty much the same result 10 times out of 10.
