Attero
http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/173/img0152pa.jpg It's rusted. It looks like a heat shield of some sort and it's being held on only by a hose leading into the exhaust (an O2 sensor?). Shall I just take it off? Attero
It's not on a cat though. It's where the exhaust meets the engine.
Keefred
If that is an Na its a shield for the Exhaust temperature sensor not the O2 sensor. You don't really need it, mine did the same and I just took it off, it might in some case stop the cable for the sensor being ripped out over rough terrain though. I belive on a TT its the same design, though not the same part number or size as I bought one for a TT by mistake and it didn't fit my Na. I am still trying to find the right part number for an Na one.
Attero
Okay, I just took it off. Hopefully it get rid of this annoying noise I've been getting and cannot find.

Bossco
It will be fine. I cut all of my heat shield off, it used to rattle at 3k and sounded like I was pulling a shopping trolly. Cut off, noise gone, all good.
