heartworm
I have a warranty on a laptop. it states If your product can't be fixed, or it takes longer than 6 weeks to repair you may request a replacement product. The replacement may be a fully refurbished product, or in the form of vouchers to purchase a new product of at least the equivalent specification. The laptop went away on 24th January, and came back last week, after 5 weeks. It still wasn't working and I returned it to store the next morning (reported it the same afternoon as it was returned). They kept it in store, where they kept it for 4 days before being picked up by their technical people. It's now 47 days since the laptop was first picked up. (50 since first reported). It's been at there technical department now for 42 days in total, and away from me for 47. They are arguing it's not been 6 weeks, since it was returned. Anything I can argue back on this? marbleapple
Just jump up and down and shout Sales of Goods Act. Threaten to sue. Response you will get will depend on whether it is a decent retailer or not
Scoboblio
Draw their attention to the bit in the warranty where it says '6 weeks to repair', not '6 weeks to respond'. Ask them if they quality checked their work before sending a still broken laptop back out to a customer and if they did, ask them what action they'll be taking against the member of staff who signed it off as repaired. Also ask them if they keep records of faulty goods that are returned to them, from this they should be able to see that your laptop has now been returned to them twice with exactly the same problem (and hence hasn't been fixed within the 6 weeks). Hpoefully they'll repond with 'eeermm.... ahhh....'

Paul
New Laptop turned up on Thursday, with a much, much better spec than original. Shame it took so long to arrange though. Not as long as mine, now about 5 yrs old, went wrong just outside initial warranty but had an extended warranty. It's been back about 7 or 8 times for weeks at a time, should have been replaced at the beginning as it's had most components replaced several times. Finally got them to agree to supply a new one on Friday, as it's this far on time wise the replacement far exceeds the spec of the original.
