ozz
The good news for Japan at least is how prepared they are for these disasters. Must be years of monster attacks.

Samurai 20V
I AM STILL ALIVE!!! After seeing the footage I am glad to still be here, testament to how good Japan engineering is.. I was on the 12th floor of the Toyota Tech Centre, it was just swaying from side to side..Climbed straight under my desk. My wife was at home, she said the house was almost bending....very scary stuff.. I am in Nagoya about 700kms away from Miagi prefecture where the quake hit.. Condolences to those who lost there loved ones..

Gaz6002
There are a few members over there. Spoke to Martini earlier via E-Mail and luckily both him and his girlfriend Charlie are fine. He says the northern part of Tokyo is in a real mess. He sent me this:
Kirk
Was speaking to him this morning whilst there was an after shock going on.
martini
Thanks for the email Gaz, & the MSN Martin Yeah, that is my office. I walked home, Charlie got a lift in a car (we normally both take the trains). I recorded the seismic data felt in my office in Tokyo. It was the scariest feeling and also rather exciting at the same time. Pure adrenalin. Nothing like being in a single turbo supra, as you can lift off at any time. With this type of thing, you are at complete mercy. http://cl.ly/2L3i0a0r1u3S0R3N1J1Q/zishin.jpg EDIT: Nuclear evacuation in Fukushima now... pedrosixfour
You'd imagine people, over the centuries, would have the good sense to limit there dependence on a place smack bang in the middle of the Pacific Ring of Fire. Instead they turn it into one of the most densely populated, industrialised, prime locations for a disaster of biblical proportions and then call it news when the ground opens up to swallow them. My heart goes out to those whose lives have been irrevocably shattered by this latest demonstration of what the earth is capable of but I can help wondering where do we draw the line trying to compete with an entire planet and it's appetite for destruction? neilp9876
Ive just been watching the videos and its genuinely shocking. If that reactor blows I think it will be the saddest thing ever for Japan, to have to live through another generation of radiation poisoning. Nick
That was a f&*king BIG one !! I ran down 9 flights clutching a railing swaying a metre sideways. Not the best Friday afternoon I've had but looking at the news I count myself very lucky. Long walk home from the office but at least the pub was open. imi
Theres been an explosion at 1 of the Nuclear plants and their talking of a possible meltdown now. A Chernobyl like situation is exactly what they don't need... Had this been any other country the fatalities could well be in 100s of thousands if not more.
