johnny g
My girlfriend had her car MOT'd today, Y Reg, Peugeot 206, 1.4 Auto. The car has a distorted mileage reading, due to a few dead pixels on the LCD display. Now, she's gone in and pointed it out and put the car in for an MOT. The waste-of-space tester has recorded the mileage at 147647 miles, rather than 047647. When she's told them about that, he's said that there's nothing they can do and it's against the law to falsify the mileage! The previous history on the car is showign 3-5,000 miles per year. This only happened this morning, so I want to see if there's anything I can do as quickly as possible. Any help please?

Purity14
It needs to be done because her insurance company will get in touch and she will have the pay the difference in premium from her quoted 10k miles per year. She will have done 100k and will be advised to pay the difference/hike in insurance costs.

Soop Dogg
Tell them you want that in writing. You're not asking them to falsify the mileage - You're asking them to correct it!
Havard
On my old NA as above, they put the reading in miles when it was actually KM. I reported it on the day of the test and got new certificate the following day. The MOT station will be able to change this without much problem. It looks like the tester can't be arsed..!! H. Purity14
She's not quoted 10k miles a year on insurance? She isnt quoted 100k, thats for sure Insurance companies check your mot's now that they are online to see if you are over-doing your miliage - so that they can charge you accordingly. Havard
I can't believe that someone fobbed her off like that..!! I would have asked them for a couple of grand to make up for the value they just wiped off the car. They might aswell have put painted it with hammerite? H.
