Chris Wilson
Do you need to get yourself UNDER the car, or just a quick means of raising it take the wheels on and off? If the latter you used to be able buy a thick skinned bean bag like "baloon" to lay under the car and inflate by means of exhaust gasses from the tailpipe. Farmers loved them as they work on soft muddy ground as well as on concrete. I dare say a compressor of adequate receiver volume would blow one up, too. Chris Wilson
Yeah I want to be able to get under it an all. Jeez, to be able to even dream of getting under a car a foot off the ground.... I start puffing and panting if I have to crouch. the air bag is no good then. You need to move to somewhere with some proper outbuilding. Josh
I need something better than a trolley jack and axle stands, as taking the exhaust off is a nightmare due to the middle bolts being hidden until you're underneath them. I also don't like sliding round on the floor and banging my head on the car and/or floor.

Jack the car up to the max on the diff, place the axle stands under each side as normal and get yourself a creeper. That makes the job so much easier. When you're jacking up the diff use a piece of good quality thick rubber to protect it from the jack. Makes getting the rear off the deck a canter. That's what I did before, but with a piece of wood between the diff and jack. I'd love some ramps as I feel claustrophobic at times, when my head gets close or hits the car In all honesty, I want a lift so I can stand up straight under the car

Jurgen-Jm-Imports
That looks just the job for me, cheers mate, im gonna buy one of them shortly. they are spot on mate and look tidy aswell if you dig it to floor then all you will see in the garage apart from the blue ramp area is the cable and the small motor which has normal house plug (so no need to convert the wiring etc)
Jurgen-Jm-Imports
if you look at the left side of my car on the pics (judging by that room on the left it will most likely lift full height in your garage room and just miss the roof aswell)
tomgeer
Thats the plan, next house will have some room to build a proper garage. Do you have any pics of your garage Jamie, how did you find fitting the door (interested as I've recently built one myself)?

I dont have any pictures from the outside, door was very easy to fit, took me and a mate about 20min and has been great, only thing i could fault it on is its a bit slow going up and down but for the price i can live with that.
