Yep, you can get a decent used 2 post lift for around £500 and either convert to single phase or use a big rotary phase converter. Unless you find a single phase one, or have 3 phase into the house. So long as the ceiling height is adequate to get the posts in you just set the safety stop to come in before the roof of the car hits the ceiling. JamieP is a builder, how about finding one of the old single centre post hydraulic lifts (a bit illegal, but probably OK for private use), dig a big hole in the drive for the centre hydraulics, pave the sunken wheel ramps flush with the path, and no one would know it was even there until you sent the car up They'll even rotate to turn the car around to face out of the drive again...
