Bossco
I like the idea of no bonnet better. I'd have tried it by now but the police wouldnt take to kindly to it round my way. Is it an MOT failure not to have a bonnet?

Richie1985
I think I read somewhere that heat was a massive problem when they were filming 2 fast 2 furious. Don't suppose it being summer time in Miami helped but I'm guessing the heat will ruin it. Will look a bit $h!t too lol. http://lh3.ggpht.com/_NxdzcIDRxxk/SCzw3pi81iI/AAAAAAAAA9c/E2RNDdXq_MI/Toyota_Supra_2Fast_2Furious_05.jpg

hodge
I must admit I'd have 1 in a snap if there wasn't heat issues. it would save me lofting the bloody bonnet at shows all the time.

Doesn't the Corvette ZR1 have a "window" in the bonnet so you can see the engine? Could find out what that's made from Edited March 10, 2011 by Josh (see edit history)
marbleapple
Cling film? My favourite so far. If it gets dirty just redo. Cheap and affordable
dude
Here she is guys, i have seen temporary heat shields made that you remove before the show, so that the majority of heat is reflected away in day 2 day driving.
Rob_Mitchell
looks cool dude! i have seen full bonnets done before, so it must be ok.
dude
Afaik, yes! No its not, there is nothing says you need a bonnet for an MOT, as far as traffic law goes you would need to cover any rotating parts like supercharger pulleys etc, thats why you see hot rods driving with no bonnets, just because a car passes an MOT does not mean it is legal, it is not a test to determine legality of a car its to determine road worthiness, for example a corroded sharp front edge on a bonnet will fail, likewise through accident damage but if you weld spikes on it thats fine because its not as a result of damage/rust, you don't need wipers or washers......................................if you have no screen and you don't need lights.............................................if you only want a daytime MOT. If you need to know the legalities of modifications you need to check the Construction and use regulations.

marbleapple
Holy thread revival Batman!!!! What if someone painted a picture of their engine on the bonnet? They could pretend they have a Perspex bonnet without the problems. I reckon it would add a few bhp too.
Guest tuskuniversal
Right how's this for a twist. There's now heat sensitive paint which goes see through when hot. So see through bonnet painted with this stuff. Parked no one knows what you got. at shows jut turn it on and wait for the reaction

Easy money!
supra joe
I'm sur your car will become a big target for low life's if they spot what your engine looks like.
