mellonman
as title says, i had a lovely jdl front bumper on my supra for about 2 months and i had to repair it, i hear and see alot of these fibre glass bumpers getting smashed all the time and there are often the same weight as the stock so why cant they use the fibre glass mold they have and use plastic insted of fibre glass? pedrosixfour
Certain companies do make urethane bumpers. I know Wings West make them, but I never had cause to check if they make Supra specific bumpers. I am sure there are others out there that do or at least could make you a plastic bumper. j_jza80
The Stillen one is the only plastic aftermarket bumper for the Supra
Nic
A mould to produce a urethane bumper would be very expensive to produce and the bumper would cost more to mould, to make it financially viable you would need to sell big big quantities, there just isn't a big enough market for the Supra. In comparison GRP moulds are cheap to produce and the bumpers are relatively cheap and easy to mould, you don't need a special moulding machine, just a guy with a load of fibre glass matting and resin. A lot of the aero parts bought/fitted these days are knock offs, the fit, quality and strength can be poor compared to the original, hence you'll get more cracks and breakages.
