Another Home AV question.

Thought I'd ask this question here as the usual AV forums I use aren't helping much. Maybe someone will know. Worth a try.

I have a lip-synch problems and sound drop-outs with my DVD player, a Toshiba SD220E.

It is connected via component video leads to EXT4 on my Toshiba 32ZD26 and we have an Xbox connected to Scart 1, a Sony Freeview box on Scart 2 and a video recorder on scart 3.

Have noticed both problems more and more on DVDs. We don't have an amp or external speakers so everything is running straight into the TV.

We also have some issues with Freeview but not as pronounced or as often as on DVD and seems confined to just the lip-synch. Annoyingly some DVDs play fine. Is this something anyone can help with?

Is the Toshiba a plasma screen? I believe that lipsyncing issues can arise from the screen itself because of the minute time taken to process the picture.

I'd post up on AVForums.com for more definitive answer.

While thats true to some small degree, the lip sync shows up on plasma mainly coz its bigger and more obvious to see.

I occasionally get lip sync issues on my panny plasma, though its got better. It seemed a while ago that the problems weren't with the kit, but with the TV signals themselves. Always had issues on Sky channels, but not all of them, so it was very channel specific, and apparantly all the channels process and send out their signals differently with Sky just the carrier so that could explain it. It also effected my parents 28" widescreen, though as I said as it was smaller it wasn't so glaringly obvious................

Dunno why you'd suffer DVD though, mines hooked up through component to the plasma and sound to a 5.1 system and never have an issue.

Can you try it with a different DVD player to see if it still occurs?
