RobSheffield
I was told NCB lasts for up to 2 years. Not sure how accurate that is, but my 18 month old NCB was provided by my last insurers and accepted by my new ones.

RobSheffield
thanks rob did you get some proof from your old insurer? Yes, i called them up and asked them to provide proof of NCB and they sent it next day. I would do the same in your case, especiallty if its only one year, just to be sure. Soop Dogg
He'll keep and FULL years of NCB that he's already earned. However, how far through his current insurance year is he? He'll lose any of the current year and have to start that year again when he starts another policy. Also, if he's more than a couple of months through his current year, he may find that he'll get less than about 20% of his unused annual premium returned to him - if he's lucky! If he's unlicky, he'll get almost no refund at all.
RobSheffield
Fair point that. Might it be worth leaving this insurance policy running and then change vehicle on it when he gets the new car? Not sure how legal that is.... but only for 2-3 momnths it may not be so bad.
supra dan
his policy runs untill august, when he should have 2 years ncb.however, he started the insurance about 4 months before he passed his test and other companies say he cant have a years ncb if he hasnt had his license for a year. so although in theory its 2 years in august no one will accept it untill next june, so he is as well getting a new policy. i thought he would get screwed on the refund but they seem to be taking very little. sounds too good to be true
