dr_jekyll
just a quick question about engine breathing through the cam cover breathers. my car seems to lose a fair bit of oil through these and can fill the catch can in 2 hard laps of a small track . ive read that this is a signe of a worn/ damaged engine but the compression of the engine is fine and its feeling powerfull and smooth. what other possible causes would there be for this , how much oil should i be expecting to escape through the cam cover breathers? i know of a guy with an r34gtr that has the same problem and he cant work it out either ? Tricky-Ricky
Before pronouncing that the engine is healthy, it needs a proper leakdaown test, compression is an indication of static sealing, however it could be a whole different story once under load, ring seal could be bad. Swampy442
As above, crankcase pressurisation is caused by worn rings. Unless youve overfilled the oil?
dr_jekyll
hmm , no the oil level is fine, i think ill just thrash it until something pops then put a new higher power engine in
