Chris Wilson
What's the easiest free software to use to edit an MP4 file? I just want to lose the start and finish and keep a mid section. Thanks.

Branners
I struggled to find anything useful, I ended up using Adobe Premier Elements that came with my Sanyo Xacti camcorder. SOrry thats not much help, but if you want me to edit the video then let me know and I can download it and then upload it again.
Chris Wilson
http://www.gatesgarth.com/owl.mp4 Can you cut the start off up to 1:20 minutes and the end of after 2:00 minutes please? I have found some software but it's baffling me at the moment Thanks Branners. It turned out MUCH bigger than I thought, plus my walk_in_woods.mp4 turned out like War and Peace Too much resolution I guess.
Branners
thats a big old file. How will I get it back to you? regards
Chris Wilson
Can you drive over with it? Hadn't thought of that, can I download it off the site server somehow? I might be able to put a temporary access on my FTP server, but I usually break it when I fiddle with it....
ScottC
If you can send me the file I should be able to sort it out for you
Ian C
I downloaded it but I couldn't open it in media player and Sony Vegas wouldn't touch it! Is the file intact?
caseys
quicktime, vlc and a few others don't appear to open it, otherwise i could edit it and put it on my dropbox.

Chris Wilson
I have given up on this for now as every time I try to upload the (working) file of about 250 megs it seems to finish after a couple of manual resumes, but the file on the server is still a lot smaller than the one I am uploading.... Plus with the connecvtion I have in the sticks it takes 3 hours to do this Thanks for trying, may try again in the week when the kids are back to school and the local wires are less heavily loaded. Branners
I may have software from my previous Sanyo Xacti camera that can edit the video, let me see if I can fish it out and if it has a video editor I will send it up to you.
Branners
Or you could convert it to an mpeg or wmv and then edit with Windows Movie Maker.
