Mmmmm didnt see any other supes last night. there are very few in the north west. I only know of 3 mkivs (well 4 now) in warrington area. (I'm sure there must be more !)

If you are going to be looking for new tyres, go over to jeffreys tyres...cheapest by far in the area. They used to be in stockton heath but have moved now to latchford I think.

cheers

Neil.

My contact details are in my sig, I am near Whitchurch, so a trip from south Warrington isn't too bad. I can MOT for you, even sell or temporarily fit a cat. I can advise if the tyre and wheel combination is wrong too, and have a general look over her if you like. Get in touch if you feel i can help. Thanks.

Nice One James & Chris too, Listen I ve looked at that chart, whats the end crack then, on the MOT i had it needed to be 0.3, but it hit 0.7. So with following the chart will 0.7 pass, how do they figure this out, and will it defo not be on the database? Cheers Guys

That chart is now out of date, the regs have changed. in theory, if the car is not in the database the tester should then do a much less stringent test for emissions. It's all a bit of a grey area. Often easiest just to put one of the 2 cats back on for the test, although in your case it sounds as if you are not using one of my cat replacement set ups. i designed these to allow 10 minute refitting of the 2nd cat, by mimicking all the original flange sizes and positions. It sounds as if you have a one piece cat pipe?

You can see a stock set up next to my replacements by downloading this zip file and looking at the pictures. Pics here

Good News, Ive spoken about the Chart, and yes its not valid, however I have managed to come to an agreement. ;-) Thanks for all the good advise anyway.

Anyway the exhaust, its not a Blitz, HKS etc coz theres no marking on it, the pipe is running straight through from the front, no bolt on CAT just on single large bore pipe. then instead of splitting into 2 then back into 1 its just goes straight into a box and back out into the back-box/tail pipe. Cr*p Explanation I know. Anyhow what about this boost problem, could it be running at a dangerous level? As for the wheels, that could be the Issue with the traction, looks like this car has just been for "posing" not "PLAYING"

Anything else u lot can advise me on???

You NEED a boost gauge, NOW!! Don't guess it, especially with below zero temps you could be suffering serious boost creep. The exhaust set up sounds familiar, but I seem to recall having removed it and fitting my own, so it was probably a different car. Check out the boost, I can supply a gauge with backlighting, that's a perfect fit in an umodded clock hole, for 45 quid. Or you can just lie it down on the passenger seat for test purposes. You really do need to KNOW what boost it's making.

Hi there Jast, just to back up gazwalkers comments on Chris Wilson, he really is an top guy to deal with. My car was handling like a pig (and a pissed one at that), I had Chris's own custom supension and settings fitted and some other bits and pieces done to the car and to say he's sorted it out would be an understatement, If you search my previous posts you'll find a sumary of it now. I've also had him fit one of the boost guages he mentioned and it does the job just fine.

Are there many MKIV's in Manchester ?

No worries mate. There's a JapUK organised meet at the Mascrat Manor pub on the second Monday of every month. It's not far.

http://www.japex.co.uk/japuk/meetings/events1.html

I went down to the meet before christmas. I was bloody cold, but there were a few nice motors there, Skyline, couple of RX-7's, 1 Supe!, but mainly 200SX's.

If you're up for it Ray Gee, jast, anyone else ? I'll be there (in the fiesta):(

  • 1 year later...

all vehicles k reg or later must have a cat test but if it fails it must have another test but only if the chassis nos match from the mot data book this dont include imports so ur fine. if it fails the first test and it aint in the book it dont have 2 pass an emmisions test only an idle test wich the CO has 2 b below 2.5% wich a supra will pass no probs unless u have severe running probs.

Welcome to the board Jast.

Chris will be straight with you and he won't rip you off or do a half ar*ed job. I've also seen his cat replacement pipes and they're far superior in quality than any others I've seen.
