Hello,

I have just purchased a MK4 Supra TT (auto), 1994 and I have a few querys . . .

1. Its failed the MOT due to the cat being removed. Looks like a Full SS System has been put on, CAT Removed. Also Theres only 1 pipe now not 2 running from the front??? What do I do, if failed the test, 0.7, should have been 0.3 so it wasnt far out. Where can I get a Cat from to fit it cheap. Also with out the CAT ive heard this could be running above 1.2 bar poss even up to 1.5bar, Its got not boost control or fuel control, is this true etc???

2. In the Current Weather the car seems to be VERY VERY VERY Tail Crazy, TRC Seems Cr*p, any tips for driving etc, Car seems to spin all the time,

3. Anything else i needs to know?

Thanks for the Advice Guys

Erm, don't you know any "friendly" MOT testers?

If not, and you need to get the car legal, I may be able to help you out. PM me about this... ;)

The stock traction control is crap. Get a decent system (Racelogic). Fit good tyres.

Have you got a Jspec or UK spec supra?

Anyway, welcome to the BBS :)

Hi and welcome to the board.

Ummmm.... I might be speaking out of turn here but the TSW site does not list a wheel suitable for the MKIII Supra, let alone a MKIV. Just out of interest, how wide are your rear wheels? The tyres should be 255x40 on 17" rims at the rear.

They'll be on huge spacers. Them wheels are tiny, get em changed - no wonder! ;)

Stock UK wheels are 255, and thats too small ;)

They aint cheap, about £700 plus fitting.

But you do get what you pay for.

However even Racelogic ain't gonna do shit with them skinny tyres on ;)

Chris Wilson is an excellent motorsport engineer with loads of experience with the supra. He comes highly recommended by loads of people on here, use the search function. Hes based just outside Shropshire I believe.

Hating to see a Supra owner in distress, I may be able to obtain an MOT for you. Let me know by PM or email if you need any help in this matter ;)

OK slightly edited the post, but there was nothing really a matter with it - I didn't say who does them or that I could actually get them ;)

This should make it easier for you...

If you have a 1993-94 Jap spec Supra, it isn't required to pass the full emissions test. It's to do with the model number not being on the gas analyser database. There's a flow chart somewhere explaining the rules which I'll try to find.

My car is a Jap 1994 model with no cats, and it passed fine. The tester even phoned the MOT hotline to confirm what I told him was true.

Thread about it here:

Nice One James, Ive read the thread, sorry for being so thick but what exactly should I tell this guy, I mean hes probably going to think Im trying to blag him. By the way the tyres are 225,40.17, just been out on dinner sliding all over the road, even from 40 half throttle it starts loosing tractions and wheel spinning. Why did I buy this thing?????

There's definitely a flowchart that shows which age cars have to pass the full emissions test.

Someone on this board must have it.

From memory, vehicles 1992 or older don't have to pass the full CAT test. Vehicles 1993-94 have to pass if their details are on the database. 1995+ all have to pass the full test.

I believe you should be entitled to a free retest, but don't quote me on that :)

James.
