Dragon
Hello I need a bit of advise, I have a typical BPU TT6sp manual setup but with standard ECU. The car is over fueling so without spending stupied money, would a HKS F-CON V fuel & ignition timing piggy back ecu sort the over fueling out? Or would I be wasting my money? Why would it be over fuelling in the first place???
Wez
Stock motors tend to run a little rich anyway, what other mods have been done to the car and what are your AFRs?
aman00123
My BPU overfuels like hell - but that's down to the cams. I personally wouldn't say a V-Con is a cheap option, i think an AEM FIC is a cheaper alternative
Dragon
You can smell fuel on start up from the exhaust, and when i last checked its mpg, i'm only getting 9mpg, which is not right. All that been done to the car is a large front mount intercooler, stainless exhaust with decat, induction kit and boost increase.
Bailey.
02 sensor?

In theory they would make the car run leaner, do you know what the actual AFRs are or does it just smell of petrol? If you dont have a wideband it might be an idea to get it on a dyno and get the AFRs checked out

Nic
02 sensor? When was the oxygen sensor last changed? If the O2 sensor is duff the stock ECU will default to a rich setting, causing over fueling, loss in power off boost and poor mpg's.

I've owned the car for more than 6 years, and it was a fresh import when i brought it. As far as I know it has never been changed.
Dragon
Thanks for all your advice, I have changed the o2 sensor, what a difference! Fuel ecomony has more than doubled, and that strong smell of fuel on start up has gone.

dude
My BPU overfuels like hell - but that's down to the cams. I personally wouldn't say a V-Con is a cheap option, i think an AEM FIC is a cheaper alternative You cannot compare an FIC and a F-Con in the same sentance, the FIC is a piggy back the F-Con is only piggy backed for ease of use and letting the stock ecu control things not performance orientated, the F-Con can be standalone if you want. The F-Con is one of the best ECU's around especially when used with the Knock Amp and extra O2 sensor. We had hoped the FIC was a step up from the E manage etc but we no longer reccomend them, if the customer insists on fitting one we will but not my cup of tea!!! The only reason I took the F-con off my race car was because Ryan showed me just how good the Syvecs is, that again is a step on from the HKS, which is why we have 5 winging their way to us at the moment and orders for another 3 soon. Chris Wilson
Bad injectors, excess fuel pressure, bad water temp sensor, or bad O2 sensor are worth investigating. You should not need to fiddle with the ecu signal to get a correct mixture at anything other than max torque, full boost.
