scotty71
Torch the Garage On a serious note... you need to go to the garage and say you bought the car on the understanding it had FSH and as this has not materialised you either want money off or full refund and see what he says.... Ric
Put it down to bad experience, always get this stuff before you buy the car!
Guest daz 6576
is it right that history only went on computer recently or is that another white lie

Sounds like you were missold the car. I'd demand a refund as the car was not as described. Same as if you were promised 4 wheels but one went missing. It's not what you agreed to buy - therefore you are not satisfied. They wont be able to produce the service history, therefore you don't want the car. Plus when you come to sell it - no service history...!!

JS2004
I was mis-sold my car also as it was the first time I had ever bought a car and got caught up in it - tried small claims court who did nothing except charge me an admin fee then tell me they could not do a thing. I also ran into certain laws protecting the actual seller. Few mates, turn up, explain to him that you want your money back. Just don't do anything thats going to land yourself in trouble. Dnk
Its not going to help you but never ever buy a car without all the paperwork, documentation, service history etc If you've not seen it, it hasnt got it should be your philosophy
Chris Wilson
Very true Dunk. And Dickens has been dead a long time, it smells very fishy
Havard
Why would you buy a car without all the service history? It's a regular con. I would be more concerned about the integrity of the rest of the car. I take it you have the log book and a valid MOT? My brother in law bought a car about 10 years ago on the promise that the V5 was at the DVLA and the MOT would be sent with it. Turned out to be a ringer and cloned to a car in Leicester. I doubt you will get any come back from this but it is worth going back and telling them that you were miss sold the car and you will take legal action if need be. Also, if it were me, I would make a suggestion that he has decent insurance covering his stock if he doesn't play ball..!! H.
Purity14
Why would you buy a car without all the service history? H. I would buy a car without service history. So long as the car was priced accordingly, and I knew enough about the said car to make an informed decision.
ozz
Actually...its not that uncommon for service history to be logged on computer and not in book, check the log book, see who it was registered to, ring them up to confirm history. We've done this before with cars and received a nice little print out. I think its common with taxi firms or fleet cars. And as for those saying who'd buy a car without history...we're on a supra forum! loads of supras history can't be proved if JDM, and its an older car that many people service themselves. Chris Wilson
Volvo main agents have logged mileage, registration and service history for at least 20 years. It's French though, but that's all you need to know to assess its future reliability
Havard
What I am saying is that if a car is advertised with FSH and when you get to the crunch it isn't there, I would not be handing over any cash. If when you ring up they say there is no SH then you take the gamble and pay a low price. H.
Purity14
Seems like the money has been handed over and now this dealer has a "ive got the money, who gives a shit" attitude. Money always last, after work is completed. Although I always expect the money before I commence any work
ShamelessTT
Service history means f*ck all and counts for jack sh*t, you can still buy a duffer. If the cars running well, and your not planning on selling it, just put it down to a bad experience as said above. At the end of the day ANY car can be trouble, my french Clio 172 sport has done 110k, gets driven like a b*stard 24/7 and has NO service history......other than some BS written down by the dealer in a none renault book, yet it hasnt skipped a beat in 4 years of ownership and 60k of my driving...... All cars purchases are luck of the draw but are an educated purchase..........which you did get slightly shafted on.
