jackso11
Hi all. Does anyone have any axel stands or ramps I could borrow this weekend? I want to bleed my power steering, radiator, overhaul the breaks etc.. Basically i have a few jobs I want to do and want to get the car off the ground
marc_p
Just buy some axle stands fella, there quite cheap and you'll never know when you'll need to use them again.
Josh
Axle stands are only about £15 each from Halfords and they can hold up to 2 tonnes
jackso11
has anyone got a photo of exactly where you put an axel stand at the front of the car? I don't want to end up crushing something and the Toyota diagram isn't exactly great

jackso11
can you get 2 axel stands on that cross member at the front? I don't want to use the standard jacking point as I know the wood blocks will end up splitting and I will flatten the sides.
jackso11
these any good? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2PC-3-TON-CAR-VAN-RATCHET-JACK-AXEL-STAND-H-DUTY-PAIR-/270642900257?pt=UK_Lifting_Moving_Equipment&hash=item3f0392ed21
dr_jekyll
put the stands on the cross member just behind where the lower rear wishbone bush bolts on .

I don't think I'd be able to trust the ratchet axle stands, I'd got some old ones with the peg and they've worked fine on my Clio and Golf. jackso11
would I be ok getting 4 x 1 tonne stands to get the car off the ground? I will probably have 2 x 1.5 tonne for the front and 2 x 1 tonne for the rear if that will work. Simply because halfords are doing a kit to work under the car that comes with 2x1t stands. Halfords sell ramps too, don't know how good they are though. 4 x 1 tonne stands should be fine
imi
would be nice to get some drive over ramps - assuming that they are cost effective and of good quality, saved jacking up the car.

Thats what I thought, guess the wheels aren't free then though.
