clapyohandz
From the appearance standpoint, I prefer the look of a R32.
Chris Wilson
R33 GTS-t is great value for money so long as you don't use the Skyline Owners Club for sale section as a guide to what they are worth They can rust, so buy a fresh import that's not had any, or much, paint. Luckily they aren't as bad a rot box as the R34 models! Preferably no body kit as they can hide, or cause, a multitude of problems. As stock they are fairly quick. To make them very quick costs, like any car. If you want a really quick one see if you can find one that's ready modified, but be VERY careful as there are some total dogs about. You can put the twin turbo GTR engines in them, and really go wild. My GTS-t has an all steel twin turbo RB26 with a Swedish sequential dog box in it, and I use it for track days. The wife has a Stagea, which is pretty much a GTR four wheel drive drievetrain, but automatic, behind a GTS-t engine. It's been 100% trouble free over the last 60,000 miles, just had two tyres and oil, filter and plugs. I have loads of bits for them if you buy one, and know them inside out. Lude
yea the RB25 is a good engine, obv not as good as the RB26, but a good engine. the older R32 is the best shape but has the worser engine RB20. i think the R33 seems to be getting the same sorta feel as the impreza, by this i mean common & doesnt seem to feel special anymore. there are loads of good GTS-t about, check this one tho, RB26 http://www.driftworks.com/forum/drift-cars-sale-private-sales/138205-rb26dett-r33-gtst-fs.html PS id double check the insurance, they are a lot more hefty to insure than the supra! j_jza80
Spend the money on the supra? If you do want another fun car though, a Mazda MX-5 can be a great choice. Very cheap, good platform for tuning (turbocharging regularly sees 200+ hp) convertible (great for summer) and aftermarket support for them is immense, they are probably one of THE best catered for of all cars in this respect (with the possible exception of the original Mini) Otherwise, I have a MK1 Golf GTi, which I adore. It's so much fun, and probably gets more attention than my Supra does. It certainly gets a better reaction. I do like Skylines, but too similar to what you already have IMO. Scott
Just buy a "BPU" MK2 MR2 turbo and be done with it. Grin factor is 2nd to none IMO. If I had the space I would still have an MR2 and a Supra side by side right now.

johnny g
Taxi........ He's right, though. A decatted MR2 turbo, with a chargecooler, running 1.2 bar is phenomenal fun.

Chris Wilson
becasue tiny bit on driver side strut? Those "tiny bits" will be a big holes if poked at, and the double skinned strut tops make a proper repair hugely expensive. If the inner wings and strut tops are like that the rest of the car will be more than just scabby too. R34's and S15's are even worse, the least rot prone was the R32. Whats your opinion on the Supra Chris with regards Rot; why do you think the Skylines suffer from rot so much?
j_jza80
Whats your opinion on the Supra Chris with regards Rot; why do you think the Skylines suffer from rot so much? It's not just the Skylines, the Silvia family (S13/S14/S15) are all prone to rot. I think it's a general thing with Nissans from the 1990s Shame that otherwise they're pretty good cars. Not upto our standards though The number of engine failures you see on various Skyline/GTR forums is pretty frightening, and the repair costs can be eye watering. Chris Wilson
Whats your opinion on the Supra Chris with regards Rot; why do you think the Skylines suffer from rot so much? They seem excellent. Tailgates around the glass and sometimes back arches, but generally they are pretty good. The rust I do see is usually self created, by fitting sill covers that rub the paint off the bottoms of the doors and fret against paintwork until it rubs through, "Things" held on with self tappers into drilled holes, and "Stuff" fastened underneath the floor i a similar way. Nissans use thinner steel, possibly of poorer quality, and general seam sealing and water ingress protection is poor. Skylines also have some rather poorly executed double skinning on the front inner wings which is notorious for very hard and expensive to fix rust. It's because of all this I was so keen to build my (yet to be finished) track Skyline on a brand new shell. I have still never heard of a brand new Supra shell, but no doubt a few escaped the factory.
dwood
hey guys, sorry chris but i do not agree with some of the things you say about skylines, i have owned several and just recently done a shell restoration on a r32 gtr, mine was running nearly 500 bhp and never had any serious issues and the issues i did have were easily fixed as the ecu have such an easy self read tale tale morse code light on them.as is any car , they can get expensive it just depends who you go to or if you do not do your research. i would not go for a highly modded one, i would not buy any highly modded car from uk or japan, whether it be a nissan or a toyota or evo. 9 times out of ten parts have been swapped and you do not know the true history or if the car has been ragged.
