paul_t
Hi A couple of weeks ago my drive belt started making a squeaking noise, so i changed the drive belt but it was lose and still made the noise. A friend said it might be the tensioner so i got myself a tensioner, after fitting the new tensioner today i still had the same problem. Has anybody had this problem if so...HELP [GRIN][/GRIN] Thanks Paul
Nic
Are you sure it's not the crank pulley that is slipping? It common for the pulley to delaminate and the outer ring to slip when the engine is revved. To check if it is this, draw a line with Tipex or paint from the centre of the pulley to the outer edge of the pulley, rev the engine whilst stationary, then turn off and check if the line still lines up or if the outer ring has slipped on the inner. Do a search for Tipex and you'll probably find lots of threads on the subject. If it is the crank pulley the Toyota part number for a new one is 13407-46020 Edited February 25, 2011 by Nic (see edit history)

Chris Wilson
If it's loose with a new belt the crank pulley / damper may already have fallen apart and the belt is just riding on the inner of the pulley. Has the bottommost pulley got grooves on it, or is it plain? If plain it's already shed its outer ring. They can be a nightmare to get off, if you don't like nightmares I am not too far away...
