hodge
Hi guys If I have an item powdercoated which has chemical metal (filler) on it would there be an issue, or will it coat no problem. Minds on overdrive again lol.
Ibrar Jabbar
Never tried coating over chemical metal as I always weld, however have been told JB Weld works.
Chris Wilson
Should be fine so long as it's designed to withstand the oven temp used to cure the powder coat.
Guest rgvsam81
we powder coat steel products at our work and we use jb weld to fill any impurities

merckx
I looked into this recently. The standard JB Weld can be used up to 260°C so it would be okay for powder coating. (takes a long time to harden though) The JB Weld Kwik isn't as good at 150°C, might just be okay. JB Stik will fully cure in 20-30 minutes , okay upto 260°C I wish I could find a local supplier, I used to buy it at the local car accessory shop but when I wanted some a couple of years ago I couldn't find any locally anywhere, they all stopped selling it. You can get it on Ebay but that's not ideal if you're in a hurry.
