Scooter
i'm not likely to be able to diagnose much if anything but I think it may help others to know if the car will rev cleanly when in neutral and not moving ie is it just like this under load? robin
I would check to see if an error code has been logged.

Jurgen-Jm-Imports
could be lose IC pipe, jumped teeth. fouled plugs, lose coilpack..
The-Plethora
Me and Matt H had this, it was a damaged coil pack pin but it could also be the coilpacks themselves. Start it up and play around with the connectors to see if it runs as it should for starters.
Scott
Fouled plugs would be my first guess. As above though have a play..... Remove the spark plug cover and start the engine. While it is running 1 at a time pull off the coil pack connector and put them back on. If you notice a change in the idle, move onto the next. If there is no change in the idle then I would guess that either the coilpack clip is fooked or the spark plug is goosed. I would get the timing checked regardless, if you went through the limiter that could cause all sorts of problems.
