Dim Sum
I was trying to change the rear disc today and once I have the brakes off. I thought that the disc would just come off. Does anyone know if there's a bolt or nut keeping the disc on?

monsween
Its the handbrake shoe. Have a look inside and you'll see a cog. Rotate it one way of the other to release/tighten the handbrake
TTRickeh
Its the handbrake shoe. Have a look inside and you'll see a cog. Rotate it one way of the other to release/tighten the handbrake Plus the disc might be rusted on. You'll see two holes the same size in the disc, you can put a bolt in each and screw them in evenly until the disc pops off from the hub. Dim Sum
That man is just to dam good! Tell me about it. His like a walking supra Wikipedia man. Its the handbrake shoe. Have a look inside and you'll see a cog. Rotate it one way of the other to release/tighten the handbrake I've taken a look at that link and after what you said. Do you use a flat head to turn it one way or the other to release
nevins
As monsoon has said its the hand brake holding it. Make sure your hand brake is off and adjust it so it is slackened off.

Dim Sum
I was bashing the hub with a hammer then I just gave up. I try again tomorrow with my new found knowledge. Another thing if the hand break is not up do I still have to play with the handbrake shoe? monsween
with the handbrake released you still won't get the disk off. You'll need to play with the cog
Dim Sum
with the handbrake released you still won't get the disk off. You'll need to play with the cog Just to make sure the cog ain't the thing in the middle, right? The handbrake shoe is in the smaller small near where the stud goes and there should only be one. monsween
The cog is the thing in the middle, you'll have to rotate the disk until the access hole (covered by a grommet usually) is at the 6 oclock position. Then from there you'll see the cog and it rotates (from your point of view) up and down. The handbrake shoe is two pads that expand and contract when you apply/release the handbrake. So when you turn the cog you effectively apply/release the hand brake. I cant remember which way is which but you'll soon find out if you rotate it the wrong way as the hub will be solid

monsween
When I changed my rears I had to smack the bajebus out of the disc to remove it! Did you release the shoes with the cog?
BOB B
Did you manage to sort this? as already said turn the cog, its downwards to loosen it off, when you have changed the disc wind the cog all the way up till it stops then back off till wheel moves and hand brake works as it should, go down too far and the hand brake will not hold it enough. Hope this helps if you havn't already sorted it.
Guest George89
Talking of rear discs i took some off today. You see where the 5 wheel studs are. Theirs some small holes their which a screw can go in. Get a screw that size and screw it at the bottom then take it out and screw it at the top hole. It will pop the disc straight out the hub, Took me 5 mins to do if you got the right size screw
monsween
Once you release the handbrake shoe you shouldn't need the screws to push off the disk. Also wouldnt the cogs be different on both sides? As in up for release one side and down on the other?

I think he means the two threaded holes you can push the disk off the hub by screwing in evenly. I never realised about them until rick mentioned above
