Matt H
You're never going to find these amazing paints on everyday cars as like I said, they're too expensive and impractical for an everyday car. I'm the first one to say that and I have HoK paint on mine, but the deep colours and the way that they excentuate the lines of the car as the light refracts from the angles is worth the extra care IMO. See how the light hits that ferrari and shows off the lines - you're never going to get the with a normal paint.
Scott
It's not a flip paint, more of a pearl IMHO. It's still the type of paintwork you were talking about though No it isn't, pearl paints have been available on many many stock cars over the years. Flip paint & candy paint are what I was referring to. By flip paint I mean 2+ colours, and by candy I mean the translucent look.

Josh
Yes, stock options. The Mini was available with the same flip paint you talk about on the TVRs. You can specify Giallo Tristrata paint on the new Ferrari 458 as a £12,800 option. http://images.pistonheads.com/nimg/22905/458_7-L.jpg Ooo, I really like that! ShamelessTT
Im with Gaz on this one, that Yellow is 100% a 2 stage pearl.......and IMO that would be the worst colour for a Supra "Yellow" of any kind!
Brazil
Not really sure what you are asking there? I don't take any opinions of my car personally, I never have. I set out to have the car the way I wanted it from the get go.... much like you did I presume? Too many people want to please the masses, we can only give our opinion on what we think looks good. The masses dictate what the popular choices are but beauty will always be in the eye of the beholder. One this is for sure Scott, you are very good at pissing off fellow members..! ILMAO You are very opinionated and feel that you have to prove to everybody that you are right and others are wrong all the time..! Also known as a smart ass..! FYI: Nobody likes a smart ass's! jazz1
I don't think there is a crap colour, it all depends how you style it out. You could have a shit colour made look good with the right touches.
hoff
What do we all mean by best and worse? Examples... Best = black (sleek, sexy, timeless, sophisticated, etc) Worst = black (terriable for showing any swirls, dust, dents, etc) Best = red (fantastic deep colour) Worst = red (can fade if out constanly in sun and look shabby) As for best suits the car, each to their own. Brazil, can we have a list of these fellow members you speak of...? I have never met Scott but I found his responses, particularly in this thread were very well structured and not confrontational in the slightest. On the other hand, your brash sweeping statement quoted above makes you look slightly less cordial..!! H.

Scott
By flip paint I am presuming you mean chromaflair paint. there are a few variants that have come from it as shown in the supplied ink. http://www.specialistpaints.com/category.php?c=custom-paints Yeah, that is the one I used to see a fair bit of around my local Maccy Ds The "Flip" one above and to the left of it also. I beg to differ, a nice ass in a tailored business dress.... works for me Properly done up in susses... oh hell yeah! I know what the different types of paint are You said 'flavour of the month' paint which to me says matte, satin, flip, pearl, anything out of the ordinary. Ahh yes, I see your point. I think these paints can be pulled off on the right things at the right times. Not on a Supra though, or most cars for that matter. Matt would be my least not liked one out of the bunch as with the right kit I think it can be done well (not anywhere near stock though). Matt seems to bring out the lines VERY well over gloss so can bring some cracking angles into view. Satin is obviously in a very similar bracket. Flip and pearl I think are outdone (90's saw Max power with page after page of these cars) and unless really special (cue the ferrari) I think they should be kept well clear from cars. As said though, it is all completely subjective. We will all have different opinions
