TopgunTT
Dunno yet, depends on the wife, i want to keep the S4 and get rid of the focus ST. I don't blame you
JamieP
What do you think? http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2551124.htm I have spoke with the guy and he will take £12,000 for it.
pedrosixfour
Probably not half as good as it looks to be honest Jamie. I think a work-horse should be a bit easier to live with than a petrol guzzling left hooker that doesn't do corners or mud! But I can see the attraction. JamieP
Yeah gone off the idea of that, i think the mpg would wind me up, fed up with searching at the min, everything i like is to far away.

It is soon to have another one. Just needs a towbar and the Supra will get to the track in style.
ozz
If I end up moving to Canada (under discussion) I'd probably have a mustang and a F150 for a while at least, I love american cars. The F150 though is supposed to be absolutely dire build quality and drive capability. Have you looked at the rodeo denver? Great build quality, capability and look really good. There is a model (can't remember off hand) I think actually the larger engined one that you have to avoid - 0-60 in 20 seconds, possibly the 3ltr, i think the 2.5ltr was more respectable 12-14. hemmjonny
We have the TD5 disco's at work all chipped. They take a lot of shit as long as you look after them they keep running, one has done over 200k and still pulls strong

Nice, I like the Navara very much but i have had two of them now so fancy a change, i do like the look of the ford ranger wildtrack, looks beefy and has the bigger 3.0L tdci engine. I did test drive a 2007 3.0l denver auto but i never liked it, was very sluggish and rolled about like a boat compared to the navara. Agreed, the Rodeo Denver is pretty basic too, and has poor build quality and the turning circle of a moon. The Navara is a much better vehicle. j_jza80
How about Nissan Patrol? i like them big, seems a lot of car for the money. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2008-Nissan-Patrol-Blue-/160544265462?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item25612f14f6 The UN use them (along with Landcruisers) which tells me they're going to be pretty rugged. Much more understated than the competition too
ozz
There was a 6.2 ltr V8 diesel Defender 110 going cheap on ebay last night - 1989 but looked in great condition. Was at 3.5k with 13 hours to go. I was tempted to bid but you need a minibus license to drive it :-( How about the Touraeg? I've seen one with a wide arch kit, looked stunning. Gaz6002
How about the Touraeg? I've seen one with a wide arch kit, looked stunning. bloody expensive, but get the V10 TDI engine and you won't stop smiling
JamieP
I am very tempted by the V10 tdi Touraeg, they are similar money to the discovey 3, just bit of a womans car.

I once had to take my old bosses Toureg back to his house and it was a fantastic car to drive(after searching for 20 minutes to find the handbrake release ) Really comfy and rode like a Passat. ozz
I am very tempted by the V10 tdi Touraeg, they are similar money to the discovey 3, just bit of a womans car. Womans car! Lol you are really hard to please :-) The one I saw had wide arches, lowered, black, modified grill, debadged and looked stunning and actually very stylish, I thought it was a good looking cayenne at first. I'd never have a disco over one, I've driven several of the old models (admittedly not the latest disco 3) and they've all suffered from terrible handling. Oh I have lots of experience in the V10 toureg, its my current car on the new Test Drive game
AndyT
Drove a Patrol around Freetown peninsula in Sierra Leone, rugged and reliable but not the kind of quality you will want for the family Jamie. Disco 3, Landcruiser and Touareg are the best choices so far. I think the Disco and Landcruiser residuals are better than the Touaregs too. Gaz6002
The Tourarg is a fantastic car. Well built, very capable and actually pretty nice to drive compared to most cars of the same ilk. That engine is amazing though, that's the real party-piece. I dread to think what a chipped one would go like I wouldn't say it's a woman's car at all. It's hardly a bloody Mini is it?! Just keep it dirty and don't go for massive wheels with low-profile tyres and you'll keep your manliness intact.
JamieP
Yeah it could be a good option, there is a couple of local ones an all, im going to try and get to see one tomorrow.
dan294
I'd go 4.2 Landcruiser all day Jamie, i've driven loads. As others have said, not as nice as the Landrovers, but good residuals and built to last. The 3.0Di Patrols are good too, i would be inclined to steer away from the Navara though, they aren't that reliable, i deal with a few Nissan dealers who all say the same!! Unless you look at the new V6 diesel.... The Disco III and RR Sport TDV6 2.7's can be prone to popping injectors, especially if tuned. The new 3.0TDV6 is far better. JamieP
4.2L Landcruisers are fortunes for anything newish though, im not going to get another navara as ive been there twice but i have to say they have been brilliant for me, last one i did 40k in two years without a single problem.
